Some iPad owners experience Wi-Fi connection issues

Apr 5th 2010 1:39PM (TUAW.com)
I suspect this is a software issue that will be addressed promptly.

Here is my experience. Surfing around, or using apps, humming right along. Change to a different app or load up Safari again, suddenly...nothing is connecting. Example: can't connect to Leaderboards in Geometry Wars.

Power off the iPad, reboot. No love. Still hangs on sites and apps.

Solution: Go to Settings/WiFi...deactivate WiFi...then reactivate WiFi. That has solved the problem every time.

Some websites are going on and on that this may be a hardware problem, that the iPad is having issues connecting to WiFi because of an engineering defect; cramped components blocking a WiFi signal. This is NOT the case, in my experience. I'm getting a great signal everywhere in my house, and outside of my house, through many walls, over WiFi-N.

This is a software/os issue.

Speculate This: Scorsese and De Niro Revisiting 'Taxi Driver' With Lars Von Trier

Feb 15th 2010 8:41PM (Cinematical)
This won't be a remake in the sense you are thinking. This will be an experimental film. Kudos to Martin for having the balls to put himself at Trier's mercy. As a mammoth admirer of both directors, hearing this news is my cinematic orgasm for the year.

If Trier truly follows the Obstruction technique, then he will impose 5 rules on Martin. I doubt Martin will be remaking Taxi Driver five complete times. I tend to think key scenes will be selected. Each scene will be remade 5 times, each with its own rule.

For more information on Obstruction, see the wiki article here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_Obstructions

I highly recommend you check out the movie, it truly is a marvel. Obviously you must like Trier to get anything out of it and I fully appreciate that he is despised by most. For myself, I find him one of the better living directors around...as does Martin Scorsese, apparently.

PAX 2009: Battlefield 1943 producer talks lack of DLC

Sep 8th 2009 10:52PM (Joystiq)
How about they focus on fixing the broken party system, i.e., it constantly splits up squads after a round and dumps squads into rooms with nearly no one playing. For a game BASED on squads, this is unforgivable.

They are aware of this issue, and yet....nothing. They say they are working on it....and yet, nothing.

God forbid if sites such as this and others were to keep pressure on instead towing the same old party line.

Here is some truth: http://www.infoaddict.com/battlefield-1943-if-its-broke-fix-it

To MacGuffin:

Actually, the first actor who comes to mind is Art Carney, who played Ed Norton in the classic Honeymooners. Richard's character is pretty much a blatant rip-off of Art Carney, especially his 'apartment entrance' technique.

I wanna be a hero like John McCain: suck at military academy, have my daddy promote me, get shot down by third-rate Korean pilots and make-up uncorroborated stories about my time as a P.O.W. , divorce my handicapped wife and secure the finances of a pill-popping trophy ho.

IGN: First web GTA IV review, another perfect 10

If you're insinuating that I'm envious, you're wrong. I'm simply speaking as someone who has been on the media side of this business for nearly 20 years now, having co-founded the original Online Gaming Review (OGR.com) back in the day, having worked at Next Gen magazine, having written 20+ strategy guides for Prima, Sybex, Brady and Gamespot Gameguides, not to mention 1,000's of reviews, articles, features and interviews.

I'm simply complaining about the state of embargoes and how detrimental it is for journalists. It's even worse now, as embargoes have mutated into Tiered Embargoes, meaning site X & Y get to go up two days before everyone else. And everyone else has to take it, for fear of reprisal.
