Rumor: Grin Barcelona worked on Strider, Streets of Rage games

Feb 21st 2012 12:17PM (Joystiq)
@baby sea tuna Bionic Commando Rearmed and the PC versions of the GRAW games showed that GRIN was more than capable of making good titles. Whether they should have been entrusted with making high-profile AAA titles is a different matter. They were still pretty young and had a lot to prove, and it's a shame they got shut down before they had a chance to really do much. I blame the fact that they were delegated to basically making licensed titles by the end of their lifespan.

Still one of the most tragic studio closures of the last few years. They had a lot of talent and even if they didn't make a lot of blockbusters they had a track record of consistent production value in their games. Still sad about GRIN and Bizarre.

Blizzard taking Valve to court over 'DOTA' trademark

Feb 10th 2012 12:19PM (Joystiq)
blizzard has NOTHING to do with DoTA. The majority of DoTA fans associate the name with Icefrog's version. Seeing as how Icefrog is working for Valve now, why shouldn't they get it? Blizzard didn't do jack shit to help the DoTA community. The mod could have been on any other game engine too.

Nintendo doesn't plan on fixing Maka Wahu track in Mario Kart 7

@briscott I'm guessing they don't have a method to check and validate the version of the game people are running online, and thus they wouldn't be able to enforce a patch. So patch distribution would be a separate problem in this case (although considering Nintendo's draconian way of distributing the Zelda patch, it would still be a problem).

By saying "Doing so would create an unfair advantage for the users of the original release of the game," they probably mean that they don't intend on fixing new copies of the game because they haven't figured out a way to fix the original ones... leave it to Nintendo to not understand how to make mandatory patches for online multiplayer games. They probably didn't leave room for that kind of support when designing it.

@Copybass Ah jeez zombies Is it really "spying" if these users put their information out in the open like that? Internet anonymity only exists if you take the precautions for it; if you torrent something you know there's the possibility you could get caught. Most people just ignore that.
