Geohot's lawyer responds to Sony's South America accusations

@Dark Archon PSN Archonik XBL Dar
Except that when I install Linux on my PS3, I DO have the source. Except that Sony decided to remove that ability, after publicly stating numerous times that the ability would remain.

Kinect PS3 hack is a console purist's worst nightmare

Careful with this. In order to use the custom drivers here, doesn't he have to have jailbroken the PS3? Sony has a current track record of sueing the hell out of anyone doing anything public like this.

Good luck!

The Humble Indie Bundle: Leaving no customer behind

Cortex Command is still in beta - not complete. That'd be why it's not on Steam. Not sure about Revenge of the Titans though... =(

PSP price slashed to $130

I still won't get one. I have a vision issue called red/green color blindness (I can still see color, just have a hard time with certain shade combos) that makes the scan line streaking LEAP out on the 3000.

Nintendo 3DS to launch with 18 games in North America, $40 each for most

@Cleric
You do realize that the GameCube was almost pure profit... right? Sure, it didn't sell as many units as the PS2 but it made more PROFIT. And the micro was never intended as an actual retail handheld. That's why it was so hard to get parts for it, it was a promo item, that's it.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 slammed with game-breaking launch bugs

Feb 12th 2011 10:24AM (Joystiq)
@FdUmCh
Because Beta testing is NO LONGER for testing. The only purpose the Beta Test phase serves any longer is for advertising. It's been that way for years now.

I've done several Beta's over the years and without fail, the game breaking bugs that the test forums overflow with... are ignored.

The Guild Counsel: Are guild leaders a health hazard?

Feb 10th 2011 3:22PM (Massively)
I had an awesome Guild Leader back in my EQ days as well. Mine was a woman as well actually, she was a stay at home mom and mostly played while the kids were at school or asleep. She was awesome. She ran a really tight ship, but also made a point that Real Life came first. She had zero problem when I couldn't make a raid or such due to my kids, but gave you plenty of crap if you missed one for a TV show. =)

The Daily Grind: Should devs prioritize player requests?

Feb 9th 2011 10:28AM (Massively)
What I have seen happen to often is that the Dev's THINK they are paying attention to the player wants but just not getting the point. Solo/Small Group in WoW around the time of BC launch was a good example. When they released the Teir 1.5 gear for the "casual" player. The gear took an insane amount of grind to get, and honestly showed no solid benefit once gotten. In many cases the Teir 1 stuff was better for the class.

Then EQ had a wonderful example. They used to run login-survey questions and the results showed that less than 20% of players raided on a regular basis and that only about 6% actually *enjoyed* raiding. Yet they followed up that survey with entire expansions tailored to the raid crowd.

Free Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer map when Facebook page hits 1m fans

Except that they've already given two free updates. And it literally takes 2 seconds to click through and do this for them.

Whiner.
