Sony: Don't turn on your PS3 until PSN bug is fixed

Mar 1st 2010 2:32PM (Engadget)
@grydlok
I'm wondering... what if Sony purposely put activated that bug in light of the recent exploits found on the PS3 to force people to upgrade their firmware? Perhaps it was in the first gen PS3 so that maybe they can trigger it for a time such as this? IDK.. knowing Sony, like when they put rootkits in CD's, I wouldn't put such an act thing past them. This bug just seems so silly. Seriously? Internal Clock? What is this 1999 Again?

Palm boss Rubinstein sends letter to employees, talks turnaround

Feb 25th 2010 11:03PM (Engadget)
Dear Palm,
The market clearly demands bigger screens, more power and better keyboards to fully enjoy today's media, and social networking rich web 2.0 digital landscape. If you want to remain relevant please step your game up and release a phone with at least a 3.5" display and a multimedia/gaming/productivity emphasis. Also, your shoddy build quality and workmanship can use some work. Blackberry gets away with releasing physically bland devices because they are aimed at the enterprise market and people are addicted to BBM and push email.

Signed, the big G.

PS: I am only telling you this because I like the GUI of your OS and I need as much competition as possible to keep a certain fruit company at bay until Android truly comes out of beta.

EU launches preliminary antitrust probe against Google

@gentlefury
If anyone is being anti competitive and burying results of competition it is MICROSOFT:
http://www.bing.com/search?q=search+engines&go=&form=QBLH&qs=AS&pq=search+e&sp=1&sc=8-8

Gee will you look at that? The world's number one search engine is somehow buried to PAGE 3. This is either *A* proof of my superior and more accurate search results compared to Bing's or *B* they are doing what the Eu is accusing me of doing by purposely lowering the rank of the results of the competition. Something I firmly do not practice.

Editorial: the American phone subsidy model is a RAZR way of thinking in an iPhone world

Feb 23rd 2010 8:17PM (Engadget)
I dream of the day that all phones are sold unlocked, you can use them with any carrier you want without paying extra for data or tethering, with no download cap and you can do whatever the hell you want with it because it is yours . Of course you would have to pay the full price upfront but the market and competing forces will decide that. As a mater of fact skip the carrier altogether.... How bout the FCC offloads some of all that extra spectrum so that Joe businessman and Jane Consultant can become carries and sell wireless data themselves and start their own businesses with a loan?
