Anti-Chinese discrimination in WoW

Jan 17th 2006 12:16PM (Joystiq)
I am a WoW player since the very beta, and I happen to live in East Asia. I speak Chinese, but am I a Chinese or am I not is a complicated political problem since I live in an island named "Taiwan".

We do have our local WoW servers, but there are several reasons for players in Taiwan to play WoW in U.S.

First of all, the local servers in Taiwan were launched in October, 2005. If any player in Taiwan wanted to play WoW in November, 2004, we have to join the servers in U.S. Since I, and many players in Taiwan, are big fan of Blizzard, we can't wait that long. I think you can understand if you are a fan as I am. God knows how much effort we made to break through the regional check of credit card in the WoW billing system.

It's all because of passion, a passion which made us want to meet Thall in person one year earlier, a passion which made us want to fight for the Horde one year earlier.

Most of us are not gold farmers and love to communicate. We just don't speak our identities loud enough to make every body knows where we are from, because we know many people will treat us as a noob or a farmer if we expose this "racial secret"
