I'm not sure why reviewers and sites retroactively call prior games in the series mediocre, after originally praising them. Joystiq rated Final Fantasy XIII 4/5 stars (although the review was written by a different author to this one).
Uh Bioware employee. All the hate may not be justified but you know exactly why a lot of it is there. Of course its easier to cover your ears and shout "LA LA LA LA LA" just like Dragon Age 2.
Subscription fees are simply pure profit. Boxed sales can carry the game for years (and Bioware already charged £10 more than other PC games) and DLC and services (like server transfers) enable an MMO to be profitable.
That amount of piracy isn't that surprising. Witcher 2 was a relatively hyped PC exclusive but it came from a relatively unknown developer. And as always I should point out that pirated copy=/=sale lost.
