No kidding there. After looking at my 300 DVD collection, I realize this is ridiculous. I'm done buying physical discs (rentals only). My connection is pretty quick so downloads don't take forever -- this folks is the next gen format.

Hrmmm. Blu-Ray (or HD-DVD) is never going to catch on when movies are $35/pop -- noway. And yes, I own a PS3 and I still don't own a single Blu-Ray disc as renting via NetFlix works for me. Just because a small percentage of consumers can afford to pay $35/movie doesn't mean that format will be as successful as DVD. In fact, digital downloads have taken a nice chunk out of DVD sales (explaining the declining sales of DVD that HD-DVD/BD sales cannot account for). If prices stay at around $35, BD will be relegated to those with $$$.

Hrm. What they haven't counted on is the sales of PS3 games. While a single example will never show a trend, I own both (XBOX 360 and PS3). I haven't purchased a single PS3 game (or Blu-Ray Disc) while though I have 7 games for 360.

Good, now that Blu-Ray has won the physical format war...

The digital download vs physical format war begins. It is the beginning of the end for Bluray and the physical format in general but it will take a little while longer. I own a PS3 and an XBOX 360 and have yet to buy a single $35 Blu-ray disc though I have purchased several HD movies from XBOX Live.

Actually, according to HardOCP most of the 3870X2 reviews are using canned in game benchmarks/cut-scenes and not real world gaming. The 3870X2 barely matches (and sometimes loses) to the 8800GTX in real world testing.

I'm visiting my parents in San Antonio and am in complete shock after checking out the u-verse service I recommended to my parents (even though I don't have it where I live). What a scam. I'm the moron who recommended this service but what in the world is AT&T thinking offering a service with only 1 viewable HD signal?? And guess what the signal isn't very good to begin with compared to cable systems I've used (COX, Adelphia, and Time Warner). I'm so embarrassed right now but I told my parents to call up AT&T first thing tomorrow and get an explanation and if they start the tip toe dance then cancel immediately and switch to Time Warner. Yeah they are going to pay more but the picture does speak for itself. Never again.

It sure as heck better blow those cards away since they were introduced a while ago. The question is how is the HD3850 256MB going to compare with the 8800GT 256MB coming out in a week for $149 retail?
