I don't think the complaint has been that there is nothing original. The complaint I've always made is that the original stuff is shunned for the mainstream games and they will eventually die out. Compare the sales chart to those after they all come out and you likely won't find a single one on there.

There are pictures of the game on IGN and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as that picture. It looks good for a DS game, but not Hot Shots Golf PSP quality.
