So much Sony haters here... lol... I remember when videogame was a pleasure... I read Joystiq since september and even if it's a good news they make it look bad... or if it's not joystiq it's all the 360 fanboys... poor videogame industry with gamer like that :/

"No HDMI or HD losless codec." - That will go away come November when the V2 360 comes with HDMI and larger HDD! I'll sell my current one and get the V2.

- lol... what a terrible futur for consoles and gamer if Microsoft introduce real hardware modifications so fast after launch in the console market... It's new in the history of consoles... how to transform the consoles market on a PC market... with so much different 360.. with HDD or not.. with HDMI or not... with xbox live or not... with HD-DVD or not.. with Wifi or not... It's a PC ? or it's a consoles with a classic unified offer ?

And for the HDD.. it's 90€ for a 120go PS3 HDD and 90€ for a 20go 360 HDD... Sony made a good choice with the non proprietary SATA 2,5" HDD...

For GoW... that's what happens when there's nothing else... Gears of War is the only real argument for the 360 in term of next gen game and power after 14 months... and it's just because of the UE3... UE3 that we will see in Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3/PC too... Graphics of Gears are War are so far from exclusiv...

And for the Red ring of death.. we all know someone with this probleme... even in Europe... It's a real big problem... more than PS2's one before...

HD-DVD on 360 is a joke... No HDMI...no 7.1... no HDCP... and if the HD-DVD camp loose... It's over... It's just for film so it's useless as an high density reader for game...

And if you dont know Blu ray is outselling HD-DVD more and more every week... The HD-DVD might get in real trouble after PS3's European launch... In 2006 all top movies on DVD or Theater were from Colombia, Sony Pictures, MGM, 20th Century Fox, BuenaVista/Disney, Lions Gate.. and these studios are exclusiv to the Blu Ray Camp... And all electronics manufacturer make Blu Ray players but Toshiba... price will go down.. and then there will be nothing left for HD-DVD...

For the story of generation:
360 > COD2 + COD3...
PS3 > COD3...
360 > Graw + Graw 2...
PS3 > Graw 2...

Yes you're right... It's their first game on 360 xD... They never touch it before...

I play online on PC for free... and what's the most important thing to me ? It's to play online... I dont care about advanced communauty options as a main factor... Resistance is already a great exemple of voice tchat , 40 online players , lots of online mode, I dont need more... Im not an hardcore gamer 24/24 online... So this free access is very good for me... And if I know someone who never play online.. I know he can play sometimes with me without thinking of subscription...

And for game exclusiv... there's no doubt that Sony has better franchise... and well known franchise... in the 120 millions PS2... how much cares about Halo 3 :s... They want Gran Turismo, God of War, Ico , Shadow of the Colossus, Wipeout, MGS, FF,MGS, Singstar, etc... there's so much 1st and 2nd party games...

and to finish the Red Ring of Death is really a serious problem against the 360... and it's offer is way to complicated with subscription, expensive hardware extensions etc...

We are not all "little Jimmy"... I think there's more than 50% players older than 20 years old who buy consoles... I'm one of them.. so I take the console with games franchises I like and the hardware I trust the more for the futur... the more compatible with HD, with non proprietary HDD, non proprietary Wireless for devices, non proprietary OS , non proprietary video codecs...

I was very happy with the PS1 and the PS2... 6 years of fun with the first one... still have fun with the second in his 7th year...
I live in france... in november 2005 Microsoft has "shipped" 300 000 x360 for launch here.. the 21 december 2006 more than a Year later a Microsoft representative in france said : we're not far from 300 000 "sold" ... we hope to get 500 000 at the end of the Holiday period... ( what a joke xD )...and we have a 50€ cut price... 350€ for the premium.. for me it's not a good sign when there's no PS3 around...

Maybe the PS3 is not for little Jimmy but for big Jimmy... In 3 years maybe litle Jimmy will have a PS3... but for now it's maybe for people with great experiences on PS1/PS2 since 1995... older gamer... People who own a HD-TV or will purchase an HD-TV soon and like movies and not just "game game game"... People who wants quality hardware really made for HD media ( blu ray ) and HD-TV ( HDMI ) and futur of online distribution ( Free Online , Cheap SATA 2,5" HDD for everyone )
You dont win a mass market with subscription + Lego Hardware... with everyone using a different base of hardware/services... maybe we will see a 360.1 and 360.2 for the futur... nice "microsoft" touch for the console market...

The 360 has the same sales number than the Xbox in USA... and if it was'nt good before it's only good today because they were alone for 1 year... In japan it's worst than the Xbox... There's very few official numbers for the rest of the world... but I'm sure that "shipped" and "sold" is very very different for the 360 I see a lot of them in stores and I know Microsoft send them everywhere in the world so it's so easy to have big "shipped" numbers... I dont know if dead 360 are in those numbers too... I think Microsoft and Peter Moore are making a great job with FUD... and communication... lot of noise around Gears of War, Lost Planet, Halo 3... even if Halo is so far... Fanboys make the rest of the job...

I think in the long term Sony has everything to make the PS3 the better system for mass market. The 2nd and 3rd years of a system are important if we look at statistics... Time is important for Sony...The more blu ray win... the more the PS2 keep gamer... The more HD-TV market grow.. The more the PS3 will win...because price will go down...
Im sure that with PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/BluRay/Online/HDD/Linux/Bluetooth/
HDMI fonctions and firmware updates it can beat PS2's 7 years...

And Microsoft has lost games too... like Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell... Epic is a third party developper... only gears of war is published by Microsoft... not Unreal Tournament for exemple... Capcom is a third party too.. even if lost planet is only on 360...Mistwalker ( blue dragon, lost odyssey ) make games for Nintendo DS...

I Think Nintendo is first with internal games for consoles... then Sony... then Microsoft...

No brick, less noisy, no Red Ring of Death xD, All In One for a good price, 50go for games, no propietary Wireless for device, no Proprietary SATA HDD, Open OS with Linux(emulation,divx xD ), PS3 PSP fonctions, Retro PS1/PS2, PS1/PS2 licences for online Arcade, No proprietary Video file format, HDMI 1.3, Unified base for "all" PS3 owner ( HDD, Online, Blu Ray, HDMI ), Sony Pictures for content and VoD, Sony Electronics for compatible product Photo/Video/Audio, First party games in every genre SingStar, Wipeout, Killzone, The Getaway , Heavenly Sword, Gran Turismo,Eye toy games, God of War, Ico, Shadow of the colossus, Formula One, SOCOM, NBA/MLB etc.. and MMORPG with Sony Online Entertainment... and lots of 2nd Party franchise... Cell+RSX+XDR+DDR3(+HDD) > Xenon+Xenos+DDR3.. and "Playstation" ^^... Japan... Fidelity ? ( PS1 and PS2 were great consoles for their owners )

The PS3 is a good long term peace of hardware with cheap HDD, Blu Ray and HDMI 1.3, Bluetooth 2.0,linux operating system and unified offer for the masses...
extensions for hardware and online are good for hardcore gamers.. but not for a mass market product...
