Considering that the cameras were most likely pointed to film the occupants in the cars, not the license plates, then that couple would have been privy to the daily movements of most of their neighbours, as the neighbours travelled to and from their homes. I'd guess that cop was one of the neighbours. Organised crime tend to use this tactic to gain private info on police. It's a legitimate threat and I'm not surprised the police don't like it and won't tolerate it.
And for God's sake, a five sentence article extract is not a good enough source to base even a lightweight blog article on. This is almost on par with the "PSP creates porn out of thin air". Over-opinionated and underinformed.
Christ there are some fucked up people out there. For those so keen to invoke Darwinism, your inability to feel empathy suggests that you are the genetic throwbacks. And to the "it's 100% her fault" people, that radio station came up with the stupid idea, promoted the stupid idea, actively sought out people to perform the stupid idea, facilitated the implementation of the stupid idea, they even paid for the water. They definitely deserve blame.
I don't think Intertainer filed this patent to make big money out of nuisance lawsuits, they were launched with investments from Comcast Corp., Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Sony Corp. and General Electric Co.'s NBC and they actually did set up and run a video distribution over the internet service. After 4 years they ceased that operation and now license the patent to other companies. Plus I think you'll find a lot of IT/technology companies are filing many patents out of fear another company will. All would have been lost for Intertainer had someone else been granted that patent.
I don't see how this legislation has much if anything to do with "socialism". Bavaria is considered the most conservative state in Germany, and their current government is Christian Social Union party. Lower Saxony is currently government by the CSU's non Bavarian equivalent, the Christian Democratic Union party. And Germany is pretty much the only country that has taken full responsibility for its past mistakes. If you want denial, go check out Austria.
I doubt her son is playing the game for extended periods of time, they're only at level 30. And I wouldn't think he's at risk of poor social skills from playing this game, because he is 8 years old and therefore must go to school. An 8 year old is naturally quite different to that 16 year old on A Current Affair, who didn't need to go to school and could physically intimidate his mother into not controlling his WoW habit.
Extensive research has been done on the subject of Compulsive Gambling and Impulse Control Disorders (kleptomania etc), and Pathological Gambling has been listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders since 1980. People can be 'addicted' to World of Warcraft in much the same way.
I fail to see how the use of homicide as a rational solution to a problem (capital punishment) and the general acceptance of that method by the general community, could discourage murders, which are nearly all committed under the rationale that homicide will solve a problem aswell. Capital Punishment is effectively an endorsement of murder.
Twink is the worst offender. The term has been used by the gay community for 25+ years. Using a term already being used as slang just emphasizes how narrow the user's field of knowledge is, and how sheltered their lives are. It doesn't make you look like an insider or elite, it makes you look like a bunch of shut-ins. More people are familiar with gay definition than the MMORPG definition.
All the accuracy in the world is nice, but humans don't really have the dexterity in their arms that's needed to make the wiimote practical. Typing on a keyboard or using a gamepad requires ony the use of the hand, which is capable of fine movements. Your arms are mostly at rest when usng those devices. The wiimote largely wastes the fine movement of your hand by using it to mainly just firmly grasp the controller and has your arms do the accurate and precise movement. Arms are not capable of finely controlled movement. People say that arm waving will be tiring and it won't be used, but sudden and large but innacurate movements are what arms are best at. Holding the wiimote in the air stationary and trying to precisely move it around centimetres at a time will cause fatigue much sooner.
