Regardless of the quality of the game, I'm glad Electronic Arts is expressing a willingness to spend what it takes to out-market Activision.
Just like I've been saying all along, Call of Duty is nothing BUT marketing. If you want to be on top, you're simply going to have to have a bigger and better marketing campaign.
Electronic Arts made it pretty clear last year that they are aggressively pursuing the dominance in the shooter market. "Call of Duty" might be more immediately recognizable, but if West and Zampella win the case and EA gets ahold of the Modern Warfare IP, all it would take would be an aggressive, risque marketing campaign.
Marketing is all Call of Duty has ever been, and so that's the fire that EA will have to fight with. If they do win, I'm betting the following battle of the shooters is going to result in the two most heavily marketed games in history.
I'm far from an expert in law, but (assuming the rumors are true) shouldn't Activision be ordered to halt the development of Modern Warfare 3 until a court can decide whether they even have the right to the IP?
It seems to me that them proceeding with development only hints that they're trying to milk it for every last penny before they're not allowed to anymore.
Why do I get the impression that you're twelve? The majority of stuff written here is opinion and speculation. Pretty naive of you to attempt to label it as incorrect, especially when you don't try to explain WHY no one knows what they're talking about.
A few hours ago, I deleted a screenshot that I took of Angry Birds' reviews, thinking I'd never use it. I now regret that.
It was a picture of five one-star reviews in a row, after Rovio's latest and highly unpopular new update which now spams paying customers with Rovio "news" (read as: advertisements). There were actually seven one-star reviews in a row, but I could only fit five on the screen.
So, yeah. Now is probably the worst time for them to be getting big heads.
Yeah... no. This thing looked beyond horrible. Not just utterly stupid but also extremely tacky and not at all like the kind of game you'll remember two weeks after you send it back to GameFly.
I was anticipating its cancellation from the moment it was announced. It's just not the kind of game that would pull Squenix out of the gutter. It would sink them further in.
Riccitiello: Battlefield 3, CoD ad campaigns could easily pass $100 million
Apr 6th 2011 8:08PM (Joystiq)The one thing I'm missing from Kotaku: Hearting. So I'll just come out and say it.
Hearted.

THQ stock drops 25 percent in one day on Homefront launch
Mar 17th 2011 12:01PM (Joystiq)I knew this game would be a disaster for THQ when they started talking about putting a baby in a dumpster and defending it.
I could not bring myself to think of it as anything more than a joke at that point.
