EA is The Consumerist's 'Worst Company in America,' wins Golden Poo

Apr 4th 2012 7:04PM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified) Amen. It's amazing how some quickly people overlook the entirely Battlefield 1943/PS3/BF3 debacle. Or how EA tried to prohibit porches from appearing in Forza 4. Or their expiring online passes/closed servers. Or how they supported SOPA.

Report: Capcom sees 'no distinction' between on-disc and off-disc DLC

@sohcahtoa How much does Capcom pay you a year?

Ninja Gaiden 3 review: To be blunt

@Granger If a 2D NG revamp looked anything like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-1_5Ccg-hY I'd be all eyes and ears.

South Park: Tenorman's Revenge drops on XBLA March 30

@tendoboy1984 Tenorman's Revenge IS a 1st party game (published by Microsoft), you Goomba.

Darksiders 2 will be a 'day one' Wii U launch title

Mar 23rd 2012 8:06PM (Joystiq)
@Fuzunga Poor analogy. Witcher 2 is the franchises debut on consoles with a host extra features. Darksiders 2 Wii-U will have arrived several months after already being available on 360, PC and PS3.

Point being, practically everyone will have played the game and moved on (by the time it arrives on Wii-U). Why else do you think there's so little buzz about Wii-U Arkham City?

Hydrophobia studio shut down

Mar 19th 2012 8:00PM (Joystiq)
@Mortimer Wise The difference here is that Amy is actually having decent sales, despite universally negative reviews (at least on XBLA it is). Whereas, Hydrophobia has had poor sales across all formats.

It also didn't help matters much for Dark Energy Digital, that a majority of their funding and resources went into making the PC and PSN versions of Hydrophobia (which sold less than it's XBLA counterpart).

Peter Molyneux leaves Microsoft, off on 'new independent venture'

Mar 7th 2012 2:04PM (Joystiq)
@Drakkenfyre Bullocks. Rare was dead way before MS bought them. They died the moment half of their original team left to form Free Radical. The remaining original Rare members (Chris Tilston, Mark Edmonds, etc.) left the company a while back to form Starfire Studios (Fusion Genesis).

Speaking of Molyneux, you ARE aware that it was he who ordered Rare to be restructed shortly after Banjo Kazooie 3 was released (when he was appointed creative director at MGS Europe)? In the process, killing off their projects like PDZ2, Kameo, etc.

Phil Dunne (original Rare keymember, now at Starfire Studios) recently did an interview and entertained the idea of wanting to develop Killer Instinct 3 as an MMO! http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-10-13-ex-rare-devs-talk-killer-instinct-perfect-dark-interview

You can clearly see that it's not an issue of "Microsoft killing Rare" but rather "Rare losing touch with reality."

One reason Fez has taken five years to make, has already won awards

Mar 6th 2012 11:06PM (Joystiq)
@Kougeru Not really surprising. A majority of the up and coming indie devs of this generation (i.e. Jonathan Blow, Team Meat, etc.) are elitist douchebags who act like their views are more crucial than others'.

Id responds to alleged DOOM 4 image leak

Mar 2nd 2012 12:22PM (Joystiq)
@carbonize That was Carmack's idea. He felt that making the player switch between weapon and flashlight would bring more of a survivor horror feeling to the game. Resurrection of Evil has flashlight pistols.

Team Meat looking to Sony platforms for Binding of Isaac

Mar 1st 2012 1:48AM (Joystiq)
@Mark morehead You mean the company that single-handedly put Working Designs out of business because their 2d games that they tried to localize weren't up to Sony's standards?

People forget things very easily.
