Sony targets Xbox Live with questionnaire

Jan 19th 2006 11:38AM (Joystiq)
I had no patience to read through all of the comments but the overall nature of comments are; "HAHA! LIKE YOU COULD REALLY KILL LIVE! AHHA!"

Not gonna take what I think about these kind of monotone endeveours of thought here, instead I'll add my ideas to the overall speculation, if there is any positve speculation at all.

While Microsoft definatly have their hands in the air regarding pure technical and social infrastructure like for example MSN and in some regard Live!, it dosen't rule out that Sony have analyzed and analzyed what they know of all of it and are now trying boost their software and online department via a unified system.

How can I be so sure? Simple; A large corporation like Sony whith dealings in hardware, entertainment etc is bound to sooner or later begin construction of a network of sorts. Foremost to integerat communication, which is vital today, into their products. Furthermore it's an excellent method to advertise, sell and spread their IP; like music, games, movies - where games can be seen in Live!

So my conclusion is that they have constructed or are constructing the last parts of this system which will help them lanuch the PS3.

Will it be like Live? - Probably since the system is ideal.
The purpose of the questionare? - I'm thinking in the terms of direction which the service will take. Just the mentioning of PSP makes you wonder how the system may integrate.
"Can you be wrong?" - Of course, but this is about the most realistic speculation I have seen in the comments section until I stoped reading. :P

So my super-speculation without spite and malice makes it to the point that Sony is constructing it's service but how succecfull it will be depends on what kind of direction it will take.

EVE Online voted favorite MMORPG of 2005

Jan 17th 2006 3:54PM (Joystiq)
Maybe some of you missed what this post was about?

No AIA&SA and no kind of biased posting from the author, just a plain news post regarding MMORPG.com's Readers Choice Awards. :P

Onto my opinions, bear with; EVE Online finally has it's place among the stars it so brightly and elegantly pictures. I have played it from the start but have tried other games, played them for periodes but nothing have stuck to me like EVE. Graphics, gameplay, community and pure span of it's size and detail.

WoW is pretty good - but it's lacks the kind of long-run gain you have with for example EVE, and I still can't really comprehend why they choose this kind of graphical representation of such a great heritage... I understand why some left Blizzard... sadly...

Saga of Ryzom never got to me as I played the Beta. It was just my run of the mill MMORPG with cool mask people.

DND Online has some hype for me as it will focus more on a traditional Dungeons and Dragons then a grind'n'level typ of game that we see for the most on the market. Hope it will live up to it's plans.

For those who haven't see or heard of EVE, I recommend you try it out through the 14 day trail or through a friends buddy key delivery. It may or may be not worth it. But not shoot at something before one has tried it, atleast. :P
