Downvote me as well, but killer makes a valid point. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Let the marketplace show them how they'll lose money with this approach. But of course, that would require more than hyperbole, wouldn't it?

Um, no? The reference was to hats and, excluding sets, most do not have "skill upgrades." That doesn't even make sense in the TF2 set-up.

I loved Tropico 3 and put dozens of hours of it, but I just couldn't get into the campaign. This time around, all I want to play is the campaign because it feels so polished. Even though it's not terribly new, everything works so well and that's what matters, I'd say.

"Being punished" is a bit loaded. If you purchase the game *knowing* these DRM schemes exist and feel screwed, it's your fault. The problems are 1) when someone doesn't know (buyer beware) or more importantly, 2) when the company gives mixed signals/false information as to the particular use of DRM, especially when pre-orders are involved.

This is only true if you use the 10th Anniversary as a pretext. They didn't have to do that. Regardless, my point still stands.

So why, then, did they release this a year later? Obviously, this was a Microsoft decision, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to gimp one game because the release date *had* to be this year. I sense why Bungie left considering the position Microsoft put 343 in on this one.

The government isn't involved, it should be a non-issue. If someone really finds this avenue of story-telling reprehensible, the simple solution is to not buy it (or even not make that decision in game).

But I imagine this issue won't be that simple.
