The Last Story's 2010 US trademark receives 'Notice of Allowance'

Jul 16th 2011 11:41AM (Joystiq)
@EatSleepChuck: No, I'm just not blind. Every once in a while people will come out and collectively whine about the Wii. It's "why isn't this game getting localized" this and "if only there were more than casual games" that. Then, if the game people are whining about does get localized or a good non-casual game comes out, nobody cares and it sells like shit. A couple of months later people have forgotten about the last time and repeat the process again.

Anyone who's part of any substantial gaming communities should have seen this happen multiple times.

@TwEE: Forget about your friends. Similar games are successful all the time on other platforms.

The Last Story's 2010 US trademark receives 'Notice of Allowance'

@shabby329: Yeah, most of the people whining will not buy these games even if they do get American releases. Many of them don't even own Wii systems. They're just whining because whining about the Wii is all the rage and makes them seem like hardcore gamers, instead of the casual, ignorant we-only-buy-the-most-popular-games assholes that they are.

When cool third-party games DO get released -- like Zack & Wiki, Muramasa, Kororinpa et cetera -- they completely ignore them. Publishers see that, realize that nobody ACTUALLY cares -- a lot of people just like to PRETEND they care -- and stop releasing cool games. What happens then? The pretenders post something along the lines of "this is all Nintendo's fault and my Wii is going to stay on the attic where it's been since launch".

No, assholes. It's not Nintendo's fault. It's YOUR goddamn fault. It's because YOU refuse to plug in your Wii no matter how many cool games are released that the number of cool games is going down, NOT the other way around.

Keiji Inafune's sights are on China, still down on Japanese game industry

@TacoHell: Producing many of the series' later games does not equal "creating Mega Man". That's like saying Akira Yamaoka created Silent Hill.

@cypherigon: No he didn't. He only worked as a character designer, and Mega Man's basic design was already done when he joined Capcom.

All he did was MINOR work on Mega Man's look, and presumably enemy and boss designs. He did not design the levels. He did not design the music. He did not design backgrounds, enemy behaviour or character abilities.

Calling him "the creator of games like Mega Man" is ludicrous and stupid.

Wii Balance Boardu. Wii Musicu. Wii Speaku.

Many of these just seem like Engrish.

Looks Splinter Cell: Conviction-y.

Which I'm fine with, as long as they keep the openness and let you get through without HAVING to engage in combat. As much as I love the Hitman concept, I've always felt the execution to be awkward. Cover, hostage-taking, better camera, nice graphics -- this could potentially be precisely the sort of experience I've wanted from the series.

Dragon's Crown announced as VanillaWare's next project, coming to PS3/Vita

@Red Runner: What? They've made on average one game a year since 2007.

Vita sizzle reel teases lineup, shows mystery game 'Dragon's Crown'

@Folkhellfang: In Grand Knights History, the ground is curved. In this it's flat.

As for development time, Vanillaware have released on average one game a year since they got their first title out so I don't see how it's an issue.

Infamous 2 review: A study in power

How is the framerate?

I stopped playing the demo two minutes in because my eyes started hurting. Felt like the game was running at 25 FPS at most.
