There's nothing wrong with the gameplay, there, Jonah. It's an incredible racer, but the open-ended aspect is new, so many (including yourself) began hating on it for the sake of hating on it.

When the demo came out, I recall you flipping out about how awesome it was - suddenly you're on the 'eff this game' bandwagon... Right.

I can't wait for the DLC :)

Wow. There is a ton of hate from a lot of you who are likely no different. The dude got achievements... It's not hard, but it requires dedication. Between writing for X3F, working his full time job, doing a podcast and living life, I'd say he's done quite well for himself.
