@(Unverified) Actually it started quite a few years ago as a PS3 exclusive with Sony publishing. I believe it has been Bondi's project since inception. Rockstar came on as a publisher in the last few years long after Sony had dropped the project. Clearly with Rockstar's funding you will see their influence in the game, but it is also definitely meant to be a bit of a deviation from Rockstar's previous titles...
No, I didn't mean what you sad was wrong, just that you made it seem like they are taking a new refreshing approach with a shooter, when in reality they pioneered the online shooter. It will certainly be refreshing in a way because of all the cookie cutter FPS out there...I agree that here aren't enough/any TPS, it is a shame :/
I really hope they stick to their core and don't try to cater too much to the current FPS scene, but I am sure there will be some of that. Game devs catered their games to the market, where unfortunately FPS and run and gun is still king.
@eat it This is exactly the attitude that I am excited about SOCOM for, those run and gunners like yourself will get annoyed and won't bother me while I am enjoying an excellent game, stealth, camping and all.
@Spunky Monkey 190906 I kind of agree with you. But I think it would do Sony well to market it a bit better. Problem is, and I can kind of see it, I doubt it is going to be a huge hit outside of the core SOCOM group. Maybe I am wrong and some people actually are fed up with the same old FPS shooters with all their staleness and issues, but typically people coming from those games don't understand the SOCOM tactical approach and actually having to use, wait for it, strategy.
I cannot even calculate how many hours I poured into the SOCOM series on my PS2, I spent more time on SOCOM2 than any other game I have ever played, easily. Will be fine with me, after the annoying children get bored with having to think about what to do, just means more fun and smoother play for the true SOCOM players... ;)
@Lucky48 You say that as if SOCOM wasn't one of the original online shooters period, regardless of 3rd/1st person. To this date one of the best online franchises in history. It is a shame Confrontation was released with so many bugs, because it really got fun after they got ironed everything out (admittedly it took too long).
