Now Playing: February 1-7, 2009

Feb 2nd 2009 5:58PM (Joystiq)
This post is the final nail in the coffin for me. I loved PSPFanboy and DSFanboy and visited all the time. I was willing to stick with it after the changes, even though I wasn't too pleased, to see how things would turn out.

Now I find that if I want to see a simple list of PSP releases I have to click through from my RSS reader and scroll through a huge table of platforms (including Blu-Ray of all things?!?) to find out that there's nothing coming out for the PSP this week?

I understand wanting to drive traffic to your site, and I have no problem with clicking through to read a full story or game review, but you've taken it way too far.

What a waste of time. I'll get my PSP and DS news somewhere else, now that you've ruined my two favorite gaming sites.

Welcome to Joystiq PlayStation

So now all PSP and PS3 news is lumped together? That's a big disappointment to me, because I'm *only* interested in PSP news. Frustrating too--I was excited to see that Flower would be coming to the PSP, but after reading the post I see it's a PS3 exclusive.

Any chance you guys will add an RSS feed for items that are tagged for the PSP? That way I can enjoy the site upgrade but still get targeted news of interest to me.

Beats: transforming from UMD to downloadable game

Dec 6th 2007 10:52AM (Joystiq Playstation)
There's no story mode or characters that I'm aware of, so comparing it to the $30 EBA seems seems a bit off. It's only $5, so I just don't expect it to be as deep and involved as a full release game.

Am I expecting it to be fun? Definitely, and the concept alone is enough to get me to drop $5--if for nothing more than to support more rhythm games on the PSP. I'm tired of having to import everything!

Homemade guitar-shaped bag to hold PSP

I like it!

PSP 2000 cases are hard to find, but the wait will soon be over. I just got a couple of prototypes from Capdase (a soft jacket and an urban pouch) and will soon be reviewing them on my site. They should be available soon from Play-Asia too.

IMHO Capdase makes the best accessories, far better than most of the US companies. The slim PSP has been out for a while now, and I haven't seen aything at all from Nyko, Madcatz, or even Sony. Where's the love?

Downloadable games may not feature same content as UMD

Nov 21st 2007 5:03PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I don't have a problem with the PC store games having less content than the boxed retail game *IF* that point is made abundantly clear in the store listing. If I pay to download it and then find out some important feature is missing, I'll be totally ticked.

But if I have the necessary info to make a good decision on which version to buy, that's cool. It will be interesting to see what happens with this in the future.

Not quite ALL systems--didn't see a PSP logo.

$5 UMD deal returns to GameStop

Nov 8th 2007 12:13PM (Joystiq Playstation)
So glad you posted this, I picked up several. I'd been wanting the two FF movies, and saved major cash over the used prices on Amazon.

Since I travel so much for business, I actually like UMD movies. The main problem has always been cost, since folks just aren't going to pay more for a UMD that has fewer features than a DVD.

If the studios had realized the potential and priced UMD movies at $5 to start (or bundled them free with deluxe DVD releases) I think the format would have been very successful.

The God of War discs arrive

Just got mine yesterday, and I'm in Dallas.

Seems they're finally trickling out, about time!

Still no Syphon Filter or Jeanne D'arc demo, but GOW is the one I really wanted anyway.

DS Daily: What games should we write about more?

Nov 7th 2007 10:56AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I really like what you're doing so far, and love the light, playful tone and clever humor. I'd just like to see MORE--more quirky stories, more user/swag/craft/collection photos, etc.

Would like to see more (and faster) reviews--especially on third party games. We all know that most anything Nintendo develops is going to be great, but purchase decision on other games can be harder (w/o you I would never have bought the first Phoenix Wright game, and now I'm a hardcore fan).

Would also like to see more IMPORT news--which titles are playable w/o Japanese knowledge? Please also post links if you run across translation/play guides. Some of my favorite games are imports (Ouendan, Taiko, etc.) and I'd like more info about other games I can enjoy w/o reading Japanese.

How about more accessory reviews? They don't have to be very in-depth, just a few photos and a crap/not-crap recommendation. Since the DS is so popular, the market is just overflowing with stuff, not all of it useful or worth the money.

LOVE DS Fanboy, just give me MORE--and try to rub off a little on your PSP Fanboy bretheren--they don't post even half as frequently as you do!
