So you mean, like, BF games have been copying CoD 4 continuously huh? Same stuff. Damn. All those vehicles in MW1 and 2. How could I have missed them man?! Oh... Wait.
As DannibusX said, they're two different games. They won't sit there and go to MW3 because of that exact reason. Some people like shooting tanks, flying jets and shoot shit, other than just Team Deathmatch over and over again.
And if you want to talk about repetitiveness, MW1,2, and 3 are basically the same game but just spoofed up a little bit. Guns named something different and look a bit prettier. But hey, who am I to judge like you, right?
I had the same experience when I played it a year or two ago. I don't even remember when I played it. I just remember it was a while ago. Too hardcore for me and crazy with as you said, player 3 only seeing part of it and then you're f-d.
Man, I may be a little late coming in to say this, but you just broke my heart man. Talking about SWG's crafting system. That was one of my favorite - if not my actually only favorite - crafting system. It took time, sure, but it was damn well worth it. I had a freaking blast just surveying for resources and placing the extractors, let alone the combat of the game. That game was awesome when it was in it's prime. 100%
The game won't flop unless, as Grumms said, it Really sucks.
The type of gameplay you see in this type of game you don't see anywhere else. MASSIVE battles in zones going on at once where sometimes you have just no clue what's going on. Vehicles going every which way, explosions happening left and right. It's intense. And that's just from the first. The reason the first DIED (not flopped, because it didn't), is because it was kind of thrown to the side of their projects. But it still hold a damn nice playerbase right now.
So no, I doubt it will flop. Especially if they keep going with it.
I agree with you in some points. First, being there really was/is no reason to defend territory besides Wanting to. I've seen people trying to organize, but no one ever listened. I think that's a big problem with it, too. The only time people defended is, say, it was a technology plant and they wanted to spawn some nice vehicles.
For the three factions failing, I would disagree. While not a whole lot had them stand out from others (besides Vanu(purple)), the three factions added a nice element to it. While serving no greater purpose than to have three factions fight, it was awesome. NC getting a jackhammer, Vanu getting hover tanks and other types of alien tech, and TR getting just firepower. I think they just needed more variety between the three, but having three added a sense of "Oh shit, two whole factions are raiding are base! EVERYONE GET HERE". Had a moment like that on Vanu when TR and NC raided one base of ours. It was truly awesome.
Agreed with the balance issues at launch. It was horrible.
Caves were O-K, but that is really all. They added an element where it Was necessary to protect them because they added bonuses for you.
Easy to gain levels? I'd have to disagree there. Maybe in the early go, sure, but you would have to sit there and grind a lot and make a lot of kills to be able to level up fast. The max level was what, 40 battle tanks? That took quite a bit of grinding in itself.
It was a fun game and definitely did have lots of potential. They should have continued with it and didn't.
I can't wait to see what they do with this game. I went back to the first for about a month and it was actually quite populated that it was shocking. Tons of action going on in which at least two... continents (?) were being fought over at once. I hope they do well with this sequel and don't ruin it; it'd be nice to come back completely.
Mmmmmm. Ultima Online. I loved that game when it was in its prime. I know Tristal (I think that's what it was called) and Fellucia made some people hate it, but I loved it none-the-less. I was a youngster then playing with my dad, but it was still great.
Riiightttt up until they started to release all the random expansions like adding Elves into the game... Kinda made me upset.
If I had the time to go find a good shard to get onto, I would. For good ol' Ultima.
