I kind of hope you're wrong, but we HAVE seen it all too many times in sequels. That scene was so jaw-dropping because after that, all you had was revenge, plain and simple. It really immersed you in the part...as Vcize mentioned, you spent all that time with Jenny, watching movies on the couch, being romantic, etc, and then BOOM! She's ripped away from you. It's kind of like that feeling you get when you've spent your childhood watching movies where the hero saves the girl/day and then you see a movie where the hero/girl doesn't save the day/dies...it just leaves you sitting there with a WTF look on your face, but man, that scene...that scene...

This was definitely one of the few *truly* story-driven shooters at the time of its release. Loved it! :)

Here's hoping DE does a good job handling the IP.

Sounds like my preorder was a solid decision. I'm pretty much done with looking for shooters with solid storylines (not to say they aren't out there); I'll leave that to single-player centric titles. This looks to be a fun, beautiful blast-fest. :)

I also appreciated the weighty feel of the weapons...anyone who's ever lugged around an assault rifle or fully-loaded shotgun for a day knows that you can't run as fast as they do in COD for long. On top of that, factor in the gear your soldier is supposed to be wearing and you've got one hefty loadout.

Something tells me that if I approach this game as a fun (and pretty) brainless actioner, I'll probably be happy with it. Besides, the MP is where it's at (really hated spawn camping last round, though).

I too wish they'd have slimmed down the ol' school Xbox and kept it...or just kept generating solid games for it years down the road. Its lifespan was cut entirely too short, and it was even the more reliable piece of hardware of the two...WHY, MICROSOFT, WHY?!?!
