Interesting. The review reads more like a 2.5 or 3 than a 3.5.

@Axcalibur Why shouldn't the content of the game be in question? Having content in place and having content that is well-executed are two entirely different things. Even juvenile humor demands some level of quality in its construction.

If playing DNF is literally "no different then [sic] playing an old favorite," then what was the point of making this game after a decade? If there is no new spin on gameplay elements or introduction of meaningful narrative, why not just up-rez the classics and release them?

When reviewing a game for entertainment value, it only makes sense to compare the current product against its origins and current competitors in the same space. The measure of "what [this game] means for the industry," has no part in a review like that. Measuring a game by those standards abandons any objective goalposts and defeats the purpose of the review.

That promo song reminds me less of Daft Punk and more of Zone of the Enders.

Crazy Taxi and Jet Grind Radio is a close second.
