If I remember correctly, there was a court case stating that bloggers are basically journalists and are protected by the same ammendments, so how can you say that it's not news ?
Also, Conrad, I think that you did the interview in bad faith. Basically everything you did was wrong and didn't follow the standards and unwritten rules of good journalism. But then off the record, you are a fucking slezebag who doesn't know the meaning of 'off the record'. You're a pathatic piece of filth that lives in the scum that oozes from the mires of hell. You're dummer than dumb. I hate to call you retarded because that will give all the poor retarded people a bad name and they don't deserve what happened to them. I feel the opposite in fact for you. If it was a contest to decide who is worse, Bill Gates or you, I would select Bill, at least he gives some of his money to charity , you on the other hand gives crap and disrespect to others. That is what you are. You're biased like no other (exception given to Kotaku), and not even your mother would like you for what you did. I suggest that you make a public apology to both Phil and the readers of this blog and give back the respect that Joystiq and its readers should have, and start practising good journalism. Did I say that this is off the record ?????!!?!
I have to say that I think you guys are really full of it (it being bulls**t). The PS3 and the Xbox360 are two very different architectures with some similarities. Being that different, code being ported from one machine to the other is going to be very different and will require major changes in almost every aspect. Code on consoles are tuned as close as possible to the metal, and these codes may not be compatible across platforms. Furthermore, one platform is using OpenGL and the other is using DirectX. How different can that be ? Sony licenses softwares and solutions that are basically Open Standards in the industry for their PS3. Whereas Microsoft's solutions are basically propriatary to their platform, and no other. You say MS has invested a massive amount of resource in giving developers the best environment to work with, how sure are you that Sony is not doing the same. Granted that they may be stumbling and such but they are making an effort to ease the pains that developers are facing. IBM is also working to come out with a compiler that will ease the burden of the developers. They are making an effort, and this effort is a huge undertaking seeing as the Cell is a new architecture that will allow them to reap the benefits in the future if they know how to take advantage of it. Saying that, the only possibility for games to take full advantage of a said platform, will be those games that are exclusive and catering only to that platform. ie. Halo3 for the xbox360, and perhaps in this case, Assassin's Creed for the PS3.
#93, one of the reasons why he is donating all that money could be due to the fact that he is trying to buy his way in to heaven. If you ask me, he'd go straight to hell when he dies.
Innovation my a**. This dingbat doesn't know when to shut up. What's so innovative about online gaming. It's the logical step forward, which is also the same with wireless controllers and media extensions.
This guy is plain through and through biased towards his end of the rope. Plain and simple.
Until Blizzard or NCSoft or any other company launches a game (MMO or otherwise) or comes out with a statement saying such and such a game is coming to the platform, it is all hearsay. These companies may change their minds later, so who's to know.
m3mnoch, you speak for Blizzard as if you know what the heck they are thinking about. For all you know, they meant the same thing.
The only thing here is that this guy was very diplomatic about it.
NCSoft is a publisher of games (mainly all PC), Blizzard is not, they get Vivendi Universal (parent company) to do their publishing. It is in Blizzard's best interest to be neutral about their stance.
Which company in their right mind would want to share their userbase as well as their user information with another company (MS) who has (looking at history) screwed their partners both ways and more ?
FYI, James Kahle is an IBM Fellow and a respected figure in the industry. See http://www.cs.arizona.edu/~gupta/JimKahleBio04.html for more information before you start talking sh*t about something you know nothing about.
I'll believe him before I'll listen to you. In fact I wouldn't even bother giving you the time of day.
What I don't understand about this fighting is the hypocrisy. They go all about choice. Choice to select their own software more like, but when the industry actually gives the customer choice to select what they want, they go all out and criticize their opponents saying that they are fragmenting the market and all that jazz.
Microsoft is a hypocrite. You shouldn't believe all the crap they put out.
Western gamers and Western Developers are whiners. Whine, whine, whine, and lament why their console is not selling well in Japan.
Maybe if they keep on doing it and do it well, perhaps Sony and Nintendo will come out and say, "We are doing too well. We need to raise our prices, so that foreigners can compete with us"
Just like what Toyota, Honda and all the other car manufacturers are doing in USA.
