Microsoft demos Xbox 360 HD DVD, names price bracket

Aug 9th 2006 6:29AM (Engadget)
As PistolPeet said above, the statement said ""be the cheapest HD DVD player on the market for consumers who already own an Xbox 360 console.".
To me, that means that IF you own the console already, then buying the HDDVD upgrade will be cheaper than the Toshiba standalone device... otherwise the combined cost of the upgrade PLUS the console will be more than the Tosh.
The interesting thing is whether we'll see any XB360 games coming no HDDVD discs, therefore necessitating the upgrade, but at the cost of alienating those who dont have it.

King's Field: worst PSP game ever

Aug 8th 2006 11:57PM (Joystiq Playstation)
This reminds me of "Dungeon Master" waaay back on the Atari ST! I loved that game.
The only problem is... Dungeon Master looked abit more advanced than this game in terms of combat.
Anyway, the really worst part of it is the loading. It's really bad... and would almost be bearable if the music continued playing. It just keeps getting cut out upon loading... bad move.

Rumor: Oblivion is, in fact, coming to PSP

Jul 25th 2006 9:10PM (Joystiq Playstation)
OK, but obviously wont have the same graphical prowess as the xb360 version! Still, I've played abit of the game, and its quite immersive. If this PSP-version really does capture that essence, it should be a great success. Here's hoping it comes true!

What's your PSP top 5?

Jul 25th 2006 10:39AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Agree with Justin's observation that quick load times are almost mandatory for being a successful PSP game. Games that can do that, and restart a level when you die/crash/lose makes a game that much more addictive. I've played too many games on PS2 and xb360 (such as PGR3) that require load times of even 10-15secs, which is too long for me, especially whne trying to get the first corner inch-perfect.
I'd like to try Daxter next since many people here have mentioned its zero-load times between levels.

What's your PSP top 5?

1) Lumines - brilliant soundtrack and addictive gameplay
2) GTA:LCS - Cant believe they stuffed this into PSP
3) Loco Roco - Stress-free gaming
4) Mercury - innovative and intriguing
5) Wipeout Pure - extended life through downloadables

Can First-Person Shooters flourish on the PSP?

Jan 18th 2006 4:41AM (Joystiq Playstation)
RE: #1 and #5, I just got Star Wars Battlefront 2 and there are four different interface options to choose. One is called "retro" and pretty much plays like Turok and one option in Goldeneye N64, where your right face buttons are your movement and strafe, analog as aiming, and shoulder buttons for firing and jumping. Of course, you cant strategically duck, or whatever, but changing weapons can still be done on the left digital pad.
