GTA IV site update reveals all Team & Race multiplayer modes -- and much more

Apr 12th 2008 11:08AM (Joystiq)
If either version is missing local multiplayer, that would really suck. That was my major complaint with Burnout Paradise.
What happened to the old days of Bond where four people sat around throwing controllers at each other? If my buddy comes over I have to own two X-Boxs (and Live accounts) just to play against him?
I guess local multiplayer is what the Wii is for.

Add a wink in there and he'd look just like like the "Buddy Christ".

AMD unveils TV Wonder 600 USB, 650 PCIe HD tuners

Jul 10th 2007 11:54AM (Engadget)
Thank you ATI, but where do I plug in the CableCARD so I can watch the HD channels I pay over $1500 a year for on my home built media center PC?

What's that? I can only watch the 3 unencrypted QAM HD channels I get that don't include the local Red Sox games?

Sweet!!!! I love you CableLabs.

BD+ DRM is now available for Blu-ray

Jun 20th 2007 2:41PM (Engadget)
"What BD+ cannot do is modify your player"

I'm not so sure about that one.

They've gone from reading simple MPEG video files on the disc, to running a Virtual Machine. And you know all of the BlueRay players software components can be updated/modified (so they can be compatable with future DRM goodness and key revoking.)
Put those together and you just asking for viruses. I can't wait for the day the first BD+ virus bricks some nice new BlueRay players.

Microsoft, Best Buy face revived racketeering charges

May 10th 2007 4:25PM (Engadget)
That MSN signup thing hapened to my mother.
She bought a computer back in '04. And a few months ago I was at her house as she was paying bills, and in passing she mentioned the extra charge Comcast was charging for internet. I was all ready to call up Comcast when I looked at the credit card bill and saw that is was an MSN charge. I asked her how long she had been paying this and told her she didn't need it anymore. I didn't have the heart to to tell her she had been getting ripped off for over a year.

Granted she should have known what she was signing up for and she should have been questioning the charges on her credit card. But little old ladies aren't good at those kinds of things.

The kicker is that the computer she bought was a Mac...so why the MSN was even pitched to her by the Best Buy Employee is quite suspect. I hope he enjoyed his crappy "Top Accessory Salesman of the Month" award....dick.

ATI stops shipping CableCARD tuners due to bugs, will resume soon

Apr 5th 2007 12:46PM (Engadget)
Booooooo!!
That best sums up my feelings about the Vista/CableCARD debacle.

I bet people with home brewed PCs wouldn't mind the bugs...I would in fact welcome them.

Velocity Micro's CableCARD Grand Theater PC ships

Mar 30th 2007 2:22PM (Engadget)
Naveed:
Build a custom PC with CableCARD support? You can't do that!!! Obviously the only reason you would build a custom PC is so you could hack the CableCARD and start uploading premium content to your torrent sites. There is no other conceivable reason to build your own Media-PC.

Nice Try.

Good thing CableLabs (or rather Microsoft bowing to CableLabs pressure) only allows Certified PCs to use CableCARDs. Otherwise you might have gotten away with it. Now go buy a pre-built CableLabs Certified PC...Just ignore the fact that you could build the same PC for a fraction of the price.
