Aug 9th 2011 3:00PM (Joystiq)Minecraft studio threatened with suit by Bethesda over 'Scrolls' title
Aug 5th 2011 5:44PM (Joystiq)I, as a video game developer, video game supporter, and Elder Scrolls fanatic am deeply saddened and sickened at the news I read today that your company Bethesda is suing someone for using the word "Scrolls" in a video game title.
The Elder Scrolls is hands down the greatest video game ever created and that is exactly what I tell people when discussing such things. The Elder Scrolls is the main reason why I entered school for game development and Bethesda is the company I wish to work for when I graduate. However, today's news of this lawsuit leads me to believe that Bethesda/Zeni-Max is just another Big Bully publisher looking to squash the little guy and feign ownership over a word that has existed for thousands of years a' la Tim Langdell.
If this lawsuit is something that Bethesda/Zeni-Max pursues further - you will lose forever my dedication, support, and exuberance for your products.
Bethesda is truly one of the handful of "special" developers that routinely "raise the bar" for what a video game and a developer can achieve. Today however, I feel that regardless of how high you're holding that bar above your head, it matters not if you're drowning in the shit that the video game business is devolving into.

Jun 9th 2011 10:33PM (Joystiq)I also never mentioned a PS3(I have 2 360s that we love)
I'm also not boo-hooing my wife & kids.
My point is simple: If you have more than one child or a gaming spouse then, this one awesome controller/3 Wiimotes idea is going to cause a lot of arguing and disappointment.
I have bought every console Nintendo has ever released since 1986. Half my childhood is tied to that brand, I was just expecting ...better.

Jun 9th 2011 7:41PM (Joystiq)Otherwise, they are screwed. Because:
The PS3/Vita will have the same functionality. (PS3 already has 1080p, great 3rd party support, & their "screened controller" is an actual portable capable of being played away from the system)
Onlive will have this same kind of feature within the next 6-8 months(well before the WiiU releases)
If it turns out to be a money maker like the Wii was then, you can be sure the Zune will magically be capable of interacting with the 360 in a similar fashion.

Jun 9th 2011 7:27PM (Joystiq)Only one awesome controller is going to be a HUGE problem in almost every situation where more than one person wants to play.
I have 2 kids & a wife & there is zero chance that I would PAY MONEY to bring this -headache waiting to happen- into my house.
The WiiU HAS TO support 2 or more of these WiiPads or else it's going to fail hard & 10% stock dips will seem like fond memories.
