Poll: Still waiting for the Apple HDTV?

Apr 4th 2010 6:02PM (Engadget HD)
This poll is crap just like all Engadget ones. This is what it should be:

Question:
Still waiting for the Apple HDTV?

Answer options:
-Yes
-No

Poll: Will you still buy home theater equipment that isn't 3D-ready?

Mar 15th 2010 4:59PM (Engadget HD)
I'm not getting any equipment that is not 3D compatible. I'm already probably going to have to replace my Onkyo TX-SR707 with something 3D capable even though I just got it in January! :(

I'll be jumping into 3D as soon as a 1080p DLP active shutter solution is announced with a MSRP of $3-5K.

NVIDIA's 3DTV Play finally solves the HDMI 1.4 gap for 3D Vision

Mar 15th 2010 11:58AM (Engadget)
This is crap compared to the 3D Vision that's been available for over a year. With this and the new 3DTVs you max out at 720p 60hz for gaming and with the old 3D Vision you max out at 1080p 120hz.

The HDTV manufacturers need to implement proper 3D vision support because I will not be buying a 3DTV that supports 1080p for movies and only 720p for gaming. I didn't get Quad SLI just to play my games at Xbox 360 graphics....

Here's something else these HDTV companies need to announce and release: 1080p 3D projectors using active shutter glasses! So far the only announcement for a 1080p 3D projector has been LG's using SXRD and passive polarization for $10,000!

Interview: Microsoft on integrating Xbox Live into Windows Phone 7 Series

Mar 11th 2010 3:18PM (Joystiq)
@ Swagman

I was referring to at least supporting real-time multiplayer via WiFi Ad-hoc play between devices. This is how most iPod, DS, and PSP games work.

Real time gaming via cell network would not be the best due to latency, but the speeds are high enough to transfer the data required for moderately intense gameplay.

GDC Impressions: Gaming on Windows Phone 7

I completely agree! This is a must-have feature and I fell that Xbox Live is gimped without it.

I also think it needs to support in-app micro-transactions!

Anyone else extremely disappointed that there is no support for real time multiplayer gaming (like TTR with multiple devices, FPS games, etc)?

I think it's really lame that something with Xbox Live in the name only supports a watered down multiplayer experience. :(

CBS Sports to present the Final Four in 100 3D theaters

Mar 10th 2010 4:33PM (Engadget HD)
@iPaul
I saw the NBA All Star Saturday Night 3D live broadcast at my local Rave Motion Pictures theater.

It was also presented by Cinedigm and the 3D effect was amazing. It looked as good or better than 3D films I have seen at the same theater.

If you were not impressed than either your theater had presentation problems. the cameramen were not well-trained, or you simply don't enjoy 3D.
