Since the success of the iOS devices, it should be clear to everyone that it does in fact matter how well your portable handles such things as UI, media playback and web browsing. If the regular customer sees the Apple product as essential and Sony's product as a nice addition, then Sony has already lost. If you want to put your foot on the ground, you have to do everything Apple does and better.

@bigwhiteyeti Yes, moving your thumb down 1.5 inches from the optimal position is a big deal. Ergonomics are a huge factor when you play for hours on end. And by my logic controllers would have one directional control (D-Pad or otherwise), four buttons mirroring the left thumb, and two triggers for the index fingers. Yes, those are the SNES controls and they work perfectly fine, the only problem was the form factor. Don't fix what ain't broke!
