Monster Hunter Tri-G boosts 3DS to best week ever in Japan

Dec 13th 2011 12:30PM (Joystiq)
@Pure Black World Tendency

Not really, since "first week of sales" and "few days" could be anywhere between 2-7 days, and it's unspecified. We know this article is only counting two days for sure though (if it isn't wrong.) We don't know if we're actually dealing with the same time frame here, so you can't even compare an average (units sold/amount of days after it went on sale.)

King of Fighters XIII review: Sweep the leg

"Like a hipster's favorite band, KOFXIII's greatest asset is just how uncool it is."

As much as I hate that analogy, I'd say there is some truth to it. I hate the fact, but 2D fighters have phased out in mainstream over here. All the big streams are 3D one (not that there isn't plenty of streams ford 2D fighters as well but there is no where near as much hype.) I'm hoping KoFXIII gets as big as SSF4:AE and UMvC3, but I won't hold my breath either, Either way, it's a damn solid game and I'm glad to have it in my library.

South Korea puts the 'Cinderella Law' into effect

@(Unverified)

Except I never will, because the US is capitalistic and companies wouldn't let stuff like that fly in congress, they'd lobby to hell and back against it and here they actually have power. While a certain portion of the populace might approve of such a law over here, I honestly believe the majority of people would be against it (especially if it included "adult" aged people.) In addition you're also completely forgetting that games generate tax money. Those companies that run all those games? They get taxed. They generate money to the government like any other business, and the more players they have spending money, the more the government gets in taxes from the business since it's all percentage based. This law, if anything, sounds entirely moral based and has nothing to do with actual business and money making. If someone can prove otherwise, go for it, I'd love to see the documents. In the meantime, you keep on trying to come up with poorly thought out serious comebacks to what was originally a sarcastic (even if mean or snarky,) comment.

If the combat isn't like Type-0's, screw it.

South Korea puts the 'Cinderella Law' into effect

People are forgetting a very wonderful and great perspective of this law:

no more obnoxious little shits on the mic after midnight. A whole six hours in which (if the law is properly enforced) you will not have to deal with annoying little twerps in any way, shape, or form.

Deja Review: Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Nov 24th 2011 8:34AM (Joystiq)
Considering that a lot of DLC characters for fighters are probably gonna be aiming around 5 bucks a pop, $40 for 12 characters is fine (that'd be 60 bucks at 5 per character.) I think the bigger issue is just rushing the game in the first place. Even when it came out there was unfinished data on the disk. So it becomes a matter of, should they have waited and added more from the get-go before releasing vanilla? The answer to that I suppose would be totally opinionated, whether you would want to wait another 9 months for the game to be released in the first place with more content and you only having to pay $60 ever or if you want the game 9 months earlier, and possibly pay twice for it.

It's not like Capcom has ever kept it a secret this is how they update their games. They've done it for ages. As far as any Capcom fans that didn't believe this is how it would get updated, they were being very stupid. I played the game at friends and stuff but never bought it myself until Ultimate came out. Far as I'm concerned, I got a solid fighter with a nice chunky roster for $40, no more.

Skullgirls and mastering the art of defense

I really hate the aesthetic, but I saw the preview they did at Seasons Beatings, in terms of straight mechanics, it's shaping up to look like a lot of fun.

Report: These are the Vita games that require a memory card

Oct 22nd 2011 8:34AM (Joystiq)
Regardless of how well it sells in the US, it will mostly certainly sell in Japan, given PSP's following there. Sony will make money off of this, whatever they do. Whatever the internal hard drive size, I'm just glad card memory is there. Internal memory can get eaten fast, especially by fully DLed games or DLC, etc. I'd certainly rather have the options of mem cards than not.
