Tony Hawk says iPhone game is 'dropping soon'

Mar 17th 2010 10:57AM (Joystiq)
I can see a possible conflict of interest, since he is sponsored by T-Mobile, and even has his own signature phone... Unless something changed?

Codemasters signs Ken Block for DiRT 2

Actually, he's one of the nicest guys in the skateboarding/action sports industry, and that says a lot. I've talked to him a few times. I'm amazed that he has become such an amazing driver so quickly.

'108 Street Fighter wins' record has eerie significance

I hope guiness doesn't find out about the JAPANESE WIN STREAK RECORDS!

SFII HD designer calls out SFIV for user unfriendliness

I would consider myself a tournament-level player, and I would definitely say that this game is hard. I've had a difficult time figuring out the new timing changes with this game, and yeah, the complicated Roman cancels make it play more like Guilty Gear than street fighter at times.

Having said that, casual players can still play this game with no problem. the basic special move inputs are almost all the same, and simple combos are there, too. I think David Sirlin has a point, as always, but I also think he needs to have a little tact. Seems like he's doing a little bridge burning, to me.

Mad Catz: 'well under 50' complaints about FightSticks

Feb 19th 2009 3:39PM (Joystiq)
I think they mean 'well under fifty percent', because I know that almost EVERYONE on the SRK forums that bought one is having a problem with them. I did. I had to fix it myself, just as CUSTOMER SERVICE suggested I do. Good thing I'm experienced with that. What percentage of people do you think can actually fix this themselves?

Gamestop will not take these sticks back anymore because there have been so many problems with them. They suggest you call MC customer service for repair. But you know what? They put you on hold on a long distance number. Then, they make you leave a message. Then, you hope they call you back. Or, you can send an email. I suggest taking your money to Hori instead. I think those are crap too, but better than Mad Catz for those who can't buy a custom.

And you know what? This guy is a real jackass for coming out like this and denying the fact that they are messed up. They have a really good product on their hand with the TE stick, I don't know why they can't just say something like "we know about the problem and are working on it" instead of denying it.

Owners report Mad Catz SFIV FightStick defects

I already have tons of parts so it's fine with me. You have a valid point though- it's more effective to go with a good custom stick, although for the ease of use, buying the madcatz stick is the easy option. The quick disconnects are easy to pop off and place on the new stuff, no soldering involved.

I got a good deal on parts from akihabarashop.jp, but lizardlick is a great site for parts for those in the states.

Owners report Mad Catz SFIV FightStick defects

My TE Stick is fine. I did have a problem with my standard edition fightstick not registering button presses though. I replaced the buttons with sanwa parts, so basically it works just as well as the TE stick. I'm happy with the quality, seems like it will be much more reliable than my Hori stick, which didn't last me a month!

Oh, BTW - the pictured stick does NOT use sanwa parts-though it's VERY easy to replace both the stick and buttons with Sanwa.

either that camera is messed up, or that skateboard is. It's wrecking my mind, man! It's not a fisheye lens, obviously. WTF is up with that board!

Communications Workers of America authorizes strike of 20,000 AT&T workers, could happen soon

Feb 6th 2009 4:51PM (Engadget)
Why don't you try working in a corporate environment like AT&T, and see how you like it. Or better yet, try working at some place like wal-mart-totally union free! Oh, you'll be in heaven! Oh, and your comparison to the auto industry doesn't work, considering that these unions are hardly alike.

Communications Workers of America authorizes strike of 20,000 AT&T workers, could happen soon

My dad is a CWA union leader. I'm not really in a position to say anything, other than that I think CWA is probably a little TOO lax when it comes to strikes. You wouldn't believe the crap they try to do to the employees at that company. I'm glad I don't work there. It's only gotten worse since the mergers of AT&T, cingular and Bellsouth.
