Miyamoto definitely not retiring, but setting up for his eventual departure

Dec 9th 2011 7:19PM (Joystiq)
It does make you wonder. At some point Nintendo is going to develop games without Miyamoto.
Are they developing the resources to continue? You don't hear about much coming from the next generation in Nintendo.

2011 Holiday Buyers Guide: Xbox Live

Needs Trenched or Iron Brigade or whatever it's called.
2011 has seen some good games come out of Double Fine.

Rumor: Ruffian contracted by major publisher for multiplatform game

Nov 29th 2011 6:16PM (Joystiq)
@Truant

No. It's not that bad, but, it missed what was good in Crackdown. They took away the boss fights and added in a bunch of stuff that simply wasn't fun.

All in all, Ruffian missed the target by a wide margin.

This cure would be worse than the original illness.

Rumor: Next Xbox to be Windows-powered, going 'Apple route'

Nov 9th 2011 1:17PM (Joystiq)
There's no real news in this article, but, some common sense has to be used to determine what the next version will be.

Will it run some version of the windows os? Yeah. something has to do file management. will the UI be the same? probably not.

Will it be smaller and have more advanced internals? Yes.

Some ability to use optical media? Yes. We're not at the infrastructure level to support DL only.

Kinect support? Most likely, either built in or you can bring it over.

Win Phone- tablet Connections? Would make sense.

BC? Hopefully. It does make sense.

Release date? 2012 isn't realistic. They would be screwing all their developers if they did that. November 2013 at the earliest.

XCOM delayed beyond Q1 2012

Nov 8th 2011 9:37PM (Joystiq)
@commonperson

I'm really just going by the various retooling this title has gone through, the idea that neither version that has been seen has generated much in the way of good press. The layoffs at the studio that have happened, the new delay, etc etc.

Not trying to be a problem, but, this has all the earmarks of a title that isn't going to come out. It may have been a great concept, but, sometimes things don't come together. They would probably be better off cutting their losses and moving on to something else.

If this had not had the X-COM tag, it probably would have disappeared already.

This is probably vaporware. Sorry to say.

Grand Theft Auto V trailer is here!

RDR was such a complete experience for me that I don't want to go back to GTA's world.

Can I have a new RDR instead please.

Need for Speed: The Run multiplayer trailer spins the wheel

Nov 2nd 2011 9:10PM (Joystiq)
This game is hitting all the wrong buttons for me.
Even the title "Need for Speed: The Run" reads as oxymoronic.

I'm going to hold off for the next Burnout title to get my racing fix.

THQ's sales 'exceeded expectations' in Q2, Space Marine sold 1.2 million

Nov 2nd 2011 5:43PM (Joystiq)
Good.
I want a Space Marine 2 and some other WH40K games on console.

This would be the perfect license for a Mass Effect like RPG for THQ.
