Resident Evil 6 to sport innovations like 'shooting whilst moving'

Feb 15th 2012 12:22PM (Joystiq)
I never understood why RE did not have a dedicated melee button for things like kicking or punching, or being able to equip a melee weapon like a tire iron as primary weapon. I feel like crowd control would be handled a lot better this way and allow devs to move away from focusing on the need for gunplay.

Brink review: Jumping high and falling flat

May 10th 2011 7:21AM (Joystiq)
@JonnyWags its simple. have the team at joystiq sit down with the game for at the very least a day exploring everything it has to offer both online and off. The devs spent the past several years making this game, and for someone to quickly write off this game as bad after spending only a few hours with it, all the while making them lose potential buyers is a disservice to the devs, real journalists, and the gaming industry. Reviewers have to understand that they have a lot of influence, and not devoting enough time into their work reflects poorly on their commitment and passion for their job and us gamers who value their words.

Brink review: Jumping high and falling flat

May 10th 2011 6:16AM (Joystiq)
In light of recent developments I surely hope joystiq has this review taken down and a more competent editor do an entirely new one. I understand early reviews like this get the site a lot of traffic, but this is pathetic. If you look at the early comments its quite clear that this review has turned away quite a few potential buyers. Not to say Brink is perfect, but such sloppy journalism all for site hits is just disgusting. In fact if you look at the later comments this review only served to tarnish joystiqs reputation. So please joystiq do what is right and do a proper review.

PSN 'welcome back program' includes a free download, 30 days free PlayStation Plus, Qriocity

May 1st 2011 2:32AM (Joystiq)
"Hirai defended the long response time by saying that Sony took the PSN down as soon as something was shown to be wrong, but analysis took time. 'Once we became aware of the situation, we moved promptly to warn customers.'"

Complete BS. I did not receive a single email until 8 days after psn was initially shutdown. It was "unofficially" announced on a psn blog 6 days after psn was shutdown and the only reason I knew about said blog was through my regular websites i frequent. For 6 days there was "unscheduled maintenance" without any information on sony's part.

"The vulnerability in the web server was a vulnerability known about that particular type of server, one of the execs on stage said."

So why did it take 6 days for them to figure out what happened. Unless Sony has a IT team from the 70's there is no way 78 million user information can be taken without them knowing. A courtesy email to change my passwords when everything happened would have been nice.

"That same reporter asked if passwords were encrypted. I believe (translation not being perfect) that Hirai said they were not. "

Well looks like they do have a IT team from the 70's

Sony evaluating possible goodwill gesture for PSN outage and breach

@eat it
"I worked for a japanese company before and they refused to sell older products at a cheaper price because they were afraid people would just go to them directly and stop supporting their dealers who made a living off of used products. "

that it really interesting, and puts a new light on the whole psn store pricing

Sony evaluating possible goodwill gesture for PSN outage and breach

How about 75% off everything in the psn store? Then I might actually be able to get some of the games I want w/o Sony's ridiculously high prices

Direct2Drive cuts select Activision game prices in half this weekend

Sounds like a pretty good deal. If I wasn't so OCD about having all my games on Steam I would probably pick up Transformers. Also I am not a fan of D2D renegade platform

Bethesda details how Brink's dedicated servers will work on PC

This really got me excited for this game. Glad to see this game is getting proper support, at least server wise. If Splash Damage can deliver content wise, I am sold.
