SSX online pass doesn't lock out multiplayer

Jan 31st 2012 5:39PM (Joystiq)
@FuzzyPierce

How about, and hold onto your hat for this one, not playing the game? At all? In any shape or form?

If people just stopped playing the games that had these passes, EA would stop. Instead, everyone has a big cry about it, but either (A) buys the game anyway, showing EA did the RIGHT THING, or (B) Pirate it, telling EA that their actions were the RIGHT WAY TO REACT as now they have a scapegoat to blame if anything goes wrong.

Humanizing a killer with Hitman: Absolution

Wasn't he on his own mission in Hitman 2?

Fathert Vittorio was kidnapped at the start of the game, and while he may have taken missions to gather money/information, overall he was on his own, personal mission.

I can see where they're coming from, saying 47 is more in control of what missions he does, but "personal" has been done already.

Also, getting closer to 47 just makes me think of that hideous movie. 47 is meant to be a smart killing machine, caring more about the job than the people involved.

From this preview, there's also a lot of other things I find myself disliking the sound of. It could end up being a good game and I'm sure people will enjoy it imensly, but it just seems like the old feeling of Hitman just won't be there from what people keep saying.

Lexis Numerique explains Amy's PSN price disparity, poll to decide US price

@perpetualmind

One of the reasons it takes Sony europe so long to sort things on the EU PSN is because they have to deal with all the different currency types in the Euro zone, and make sure prices match up accordingly, due to taxes and whatnot.

With points, they're just that. Points. The purchasing of the points handles all the taxing issues, which is much more efficient.

What Microsoft did that causes such weird pricing anomalies is make it that 1000 points don't equal 10 dollars.

@Acosta02

Which is even more reason to think that 800 points in America is worth the same when converted to the same currency as 800 points in Europe.

@Faenix

Then just vote for them to drop the price and wait a week.

I have a feeling this will probably be the choice that goes through anyway.

Why are people getting so upset?

The game was set to be ten euros across the board. The company is european, so it makes sense we start the issue there. Things are fine.

They then go to send it to America. To make sure the game is still ten euros, they convert the price to dollars. It comes out at 12.99 on Sony's pricing structure. Now, due to XBox having points, they assumed that conversion prices should mean 800 points at 10 euro here would be 800 points at 10 euro in America, or 12.99 also.

It was a silly assumption to make, but I can see where they're coming from.

They find out they screwed up, but instead of just saying"PRICE SWITCH! One week del;ay. Deal with it." or "Price is staying higher. Tough. Deal with it." They let people vote, saying "We will drop the price, but Sony will delay the game a week due to price restructuring. It'll be out of our hands. Which do you think you'd rather put up with? We won't make the decision for you.".

If you're going to get mad at Lexis Numérique, also gert mad at Sony for their slow-ass pricing system, and Microsoft for the nebulous points system, because all three are contributing factors.

Saints Row: The Third and doughnuts for dinner

@StarcasM

Apparently you didn't get my earlier comment either.

No, it's not a joke. It's a series of games where the whole point is to take all the things people deem "immature" and "wrong" with society and gameing culture today, and make a fun filled game of it in the hopes that people will turn up in droves yelling "Won't somebody PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!! This filth has no merit!!".

A major point of the game is to get people with your attitude all hot and bothered so the rest of us can laugh at you. The fact that you responded the way you did has just validated the existance of such a game all the more. If people like you could just go "Well, I don't like it so i'll just not buy it and keep it out of my home" and keep a sensible attitude, there'd be no point and games in this veign would stop getting made. Most of the fun would be gone.

If Saints Row were a joke, you'd have demonstrated, with flying colours, that you didn't get the punchline.

Heavy Rain developer estimates $13M loss on second-hand sales

@(Unverified)

I'm sick of this argument.

THEY'RE TWO DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES!

Also, the automotive industry has had a LOT longer to learn to deal with their loss from second hand sales than the game industry.

Seriously, it's like comparing the running of a Wall mart to the running of a hospital. You're comparing two completely different sets of circumstances based on a single similarity, and it's stupid.
