I won't send it because... I don't care. I'm an adult and I understand that things change. Just becuase I was able to do something in game 10 years ago, doesn't mean I expect to be able to do it now. I don't even consider it DRM, it's just the reality of what they want to do with the game and the experience of playing it. Connections aren't hard to come by these days either. Get over yourself.
You people are dumb. Diablo 3 isn't Diablo 2. It requires an internet connection, just like some other games these days (which you don't bitch about). That's just how this game is. If you want to spin that into some assinine morality play over DRM, knock yourself out and look stupid doing it. Times changes, games change, the past is not the present. grow up.
@doubleonad If you don't understand why there's hype then you probably don't know enough about the subject to comment in the first place. Most engine developers are trying to find ways to improve on the shit he developed a decade ago while Carmack is solving problems and moving in directions they aren't even aware of. You don't know what you don't know.
It's a shame this can't be turned around against the NCAA itself. They're the ones that sold the rights to these kids likenesses. The NCAA is one of the most corrupt organizations in this country.
It's also nice to see an engine dev look at some of the real problems in todays game engines and set out to fix them. That is why Carmack is without peers in his field.
I don't know, maybe the sense of speed that your missing is something that isn't as pronounced in reality as what you've come to expect from video games? Most games have to do something unrealistic to bump up that sense of speed and make you think "Wow, that was fast". Games like Forza and GT don't do that because IMO, reality doesn't do that. Doing 130 on an open road doesn't feel as fast as doing 45 in a trail lined with trees.
I'll wait to play the game before buying into that as a problem.
@Mr Hett Media Center was held back by the cable/sat companies for too long on the live TV side. The other main features, streaming music/movies/pics, is something that's built into nearly every device you buy these days. So having a dedicated system + extenders for that is a huge waste.
I tried for years to make an MC based system in my house using cable and it was always a pain int he ass, way more trouble than it was worth. I switched it u-verse, which is based on MC and I've gotten everything I wanted my MC based system to be wtih the exception of streaming my own movie rips. Though in those cases, I just switch to the 360 and do them from there. I'm waiting for two of the 360 u-verse kits to come in and then I won't even have to switch.
some of you act surprised that sparkler costs money, yet 80% of the revenue from the various app stores exists because people will drop a few bucks, without hesitation, on anything that might entertain them for a couple of minutes
@Tristan77 I don't. I don't care how the console does in F'n europe or Japan. They don't matter. They might as well not even exist in my gaming world. That it sells well in the country that has the most game developers on the planet is ALL that matters because that means they'll continue to make games for it and I, living in that country, will be able to play them.
