Mar 9th 2012 12:21PM (Joystiq)I listened to a podcast where Casey Hudson talked about this. That's pretty much what he said. He didnt' talk about the specifics, he pretty much said that it costs money to develop the tech etc. and that by using Kinect, all they had to do was put some work into the integration. Makes sense to me.

Mar 9th 2012 12:14PM (Joystiq)I listened to a podcast with Casey Hudson. They asked him that question. As it turns out, the Kinect has the technology that allows them to integrate voice command without them doing any more development on there end (except to tweek things a bit).
On the other hand, if a developer wants to use a headset, they have to develop that tech (and that costs money). It's pretty expensive to develp and integrate a voice recognition system on the developer's end. So in a sense, the kinect is almost like a "free feature" that the devs don't have to fork out money to develop.

Mar 9th 2012 12:07PM (Joystiq)Agreed. After playing with Kinect, I don't want to play without it. Everyone should make sure to calibrate before playing. Ater that, you should be good to go.
