I guess I should actually mention my favorite Dreamcast game... Resident Evil: Code Veronica.,, or the fishing games. Dreamcast was the only system I've ever played fishing on and I loved it so much I bought the stupid controller.
Yeah, I'm one of the many Dreamcast fanboys too. I still have my T-shirt I got when pre-ordering the system, I even imported one of the controllers from Japan... for some unknown reason. I will enjoy this swag if sent my way.
I've always been amazed that the NHL doesn't do the same thing. There are often reviews on odd goals, goalies can easily cover the puck from the cameras as it slides past them. If Fox can put a chip in the pucks to make it glow on TV, the NHL should be able to create a computer system with some sensors to automatically turn on the goal light.
Well, maybe Sony should just duct-tape two PS3's together... maybe then they can compete with the Wii. Or maybe they could release some great games... I'm sure MGS4 and a handful of other titles will boost sales, too bad they didn't have them ready for launch.
Nintendo's build quality has always been top-notch.
Who among us hasn't whipped their original NES controller into/against a wall, on purpose, having it bounce back in perfect shape... my demonic younger self got so upset at the durability of Nintendo Controllers that I took a knife and gouged out a chunk or two... sad that I can't sell them on eBay now.
Though this picture looks like a fake. Get a crappy old TV, whack it with a hammer, jam a Wiimote into it, get a million hits on Flickr. I should start photoshopping now!
I just can't believe the people that can't hold onto a Wiimote, is it THAT hard to grip? Are you unable to wipe off your sweaty hands in between rounds of bowling??? How foolish...
Of course my girlfriend whacked me pretty good in the elbow last night during a match of tennis.
I'm surprised that Nintendo doesn't give at least one game away for Free. I have no interest in the Virtual Console (as my Xbox does all the emulation I can ask for), but I have explored the games, kinda thought about getting Mario Bros... but didn't. Now that Sony has announced Gran Tourismo HD will be available for free, why can't we get... say... Dr. Mario for free.
A smart Nintendo would post a giant poll on their website, listing every game that might possibly be brought onto Virtual Console (like the top-200 games from each system), and let people vote... give the power to the people! I don't think that Nintendo would go through the trouble of something like Mother 3 (as they have already given up on the idea, spurring homebrewers to make their own translation)... but I think it would clarify the picture for the Nintendo Execs... I want Blades of Steel.
I also think paying $4 or $10 for a game that is 10+ years old is a bad joke. Games should be $2, maybe $5.
The Wii is new, just like when the DS came out there were a lot of neat features that were promised (like Wifi)... but at launch none of the games took advantage it. Months later, Mario Kart DS and Metroid are released, WiFi multiplayer goodness, all DS owners jump for joy. More systems are sold on this hype.
The Wii will follow in this path, in 6 months there will be some amazing Wifi multiplayer system-2-system magic... people will be in awe, more systems will sell. Oh yeah, Nintendo will surely release a few new colours of Wii. Wii will reign supreme.
What I'm amazed at is that no-one is asking about when DSWii Connectivity will happen. There were promises that WiiConnect24 would allow for DS game demos (like the download stations at Ebgames) and also usage of DS'es as secondary control devices (I always imagined this like the VMU for Dreamcast, secretly choosing your Football plays, etc). They also said that the Wii would act as a wireless hub for the DS, not yet true...
Considering that Nintendo hasn't finished setting up the News and Weather 'channels' I don't expect it all too soon, but definitely by next Xmas there will be a revolution of the Wii in my hands. Can you imagine strapping your Wii-mote under your white DS lite (via the GBA slot) and playing PilotWiings with stats on the DS screens, airplane on the TV? Neat-o... thoughts?
In Saskatchewan (Western Canada), I've been calling every Walmart, Eb Games, Toys R Us, Future Shop and Best Buy. everyone quotes me the "oh, we're getting systems tomorrow" or "We had systems yesterday". My favorite is the, "which do you want, Wii-mote or Nunchuk?" question. I beg for both, get a promise for half, make a 45 minute drive to a stupid mall, only to arrive with nothing in stock... I don't understand! People are playing jokes on me! All this just so I can play Wii Tennis with my girlfriend.
Why didn't Nintendo make more controllers?>? I guess Sony wanted press for selling out of systems, Nintendo magically sold out as well, but easily sold out of their allotment of controllers... per location. This is also forcing everyone to buy (and search, and scrounge (on ebay)) 3 more wiimotes for $44.00 each, just to play multiplayer tennis. Because it is cool and I want to share the fun.
Everyone that I know, who had little to no knowledge of the Wii beforehand, is completely amazed by the Wii and it's technology. Nintendo is great again! Why waste money on a Ps3, when you could buy Zelda and A Wii for $350? of Gears of War and an Xbox 360 for $600?
Well, the only problem I see is that the Wiimote is basically useless (for pointing at the screen) if being blocked by anything. I tried to lay back in my chair, plop my feet up and play some Rayman and my stupid toes kept cutting out my aim. So if companies are planning to stick a blade on the end of the 'mote, it better be easy to get off for slingshot mode.
