@Shakes999 Well I've been playing Pool of Radiance (1988) recently, and having a blast.

The RtwP system of Baldurs Gate is just too chaotic. Even with the pause at end of round option on, the nature of the simultaneous actions leave me having to look back at the battle log just to see wtf just happened exactly. I like enjoying each characters actions as they happen and getting that feedback.

Plus with no grid, it's impossible to form defensive lines and protect casters properly as enemies squeeze through little cracks often as positioning becomes less important. It too often becomes a game of letting the monsters chase someone around while everyone uses ranged attacks. Kinda cheesy.

For me the best proper tactical combat in RPGs were the likes of Temple of Elemental Evil, Jagged Alliance 2 , Knights of the Chalice and the Gold Box games. Hopefully W2 does something along those lines.

@(Unverified) Someone has gotten really soft playing these modern 'rpgs' that you can basically sleepwalk through. Wait, I have to think a little and come up with a plan, what terrible game design ! LOL
