From what I've read elsewhere the combat is actually pretty fun. The demo locked out a lot of things and didn't fully explain what it didn't
The platforming is supposably painful throughout due to the camera though. I'll buy it at some point. A lot of creativity obviously went into it and the developer is having trouble it seems.
The monsters inside of every one*faux deepness*. Although the choices may be gray, I'm going to try to pick the option/choice that supports the more accepting/hurt race.
I already have the ds version so I don't think I'll buy it again. Might get the psn version for my psp/ps3 but probably not. If I remember correctly, it suffered from load issues.
I loved DQ IX(a SE/level 5 game) and Radiant Historia a ton. FF 13 is just different and unique. Not all JRPGS are the same, its a wide genre. I thought it had one of the best battle systems in the entire series(and I've beaten every single one except 5)
I'm not going to reply to every point as some of the others that have commented, expressed my thoughts.
It's 16 and thats because it's a 40 hour game with improved visuals and such. I'd agree that its not matching the market but it seems to be selling well anyway. And they've made profit some years, and lost at other times. Same as any other company. I don't think their prefect but they get hated on so much, especially when they make so many great(imo) games.
Also: the horse blinders comment gave a good laugh
All of the psp games except The 3rd Birthday(and even then, it got decent to good reviews) got great reviews. And they sold well, theres no reason to not show the portable systems some love.
You can't lump all of the US into one category. And FF13 is hardly an interactive movie. Out of the 50-60 hours it took me to beat a few of the side quests and the main story, maybe 3 was cutscenes.
