Ezio's costume coming to Final Fantasy XIII-2 as DLC

Nov 29th 2011 12:41PM (Joystiq)
@DjiegoMoz Well I did say I didn't hate XIII. I do still like it. I'm not saying I personally absolutely hate what they've done. But they need to push the envelope in ways that resonate better with us. Clearly what they did with XIII wasn't the right move. From a company with years and years and years of experience doing this you would think they could be the ones to sit back and really think of a great new way to add things and make it seem totally different without ruining it for others.

I did still say I'll buy XIII-2. Which I will. Probably buy both of them again. Like I did with XIII. Xbox and PS3. But as much as I love Square, I can see their faults showing. This is the company that has crafted game upon game upon game and they made a few too many mistakes with XIII. The years of experience they have should be better suited to a next gen game with tons of possibility. Think Tales of Vesperia. That game did it right.Or Star Ocean. Maybe they weren't the best games ever but they were awesome in their own right. I just feel like XIII was a step back from what I want. Nice graphics, sure. Not the nicest due to how long they waited though. The gameplay could literally be played for you. Why would they do that? What's the point to playing then? When the battles takes as long as they can in XIII it gets to be tedious. Not fun. I actually decided early on to play it without the auto-attack thing. Because it felt dumb to me to do something like that.

So tl;dr I agree with you but not in the way you're thinking. I want them to change and innovate. I just don't want them to do so in ways that push away valuable fans. They must not fail!

@SteveMcQuark This is true. And it was extremely subtle as well. Not announced and having to be paid for....

Of course there's always Raiden-Ezio in Brotherhood. Which I guess I mean.....The meeting must have been something like....

Konami - "We'd like to use your assassins creed costume in our next Metal Gear. What do you say?"

Ubisoft - "HOLY SHIT YES! Can we use snakes outfit in Assassins Creed?!!!"

Konami - "....Uuuuuuuuhhhhmmmmm....how about Raiden? He's....cool now right?"
Ubisoft - "....I mean....I guess...."

@Helghast102 I can rephrase if you'd like then.

Highly popular to Americans and not made in Japan*

@My Prerogative And this is just so backwards. It's AMERICAN Cosplay getting into JAPANESE games. I don't even.

...I still love the Assassin outfit....

@solowing I would love to dress as Ezio. I would easily be the most fabulous man at the ball.

Just try not to get any blood on it.

Yet another attempt by Square to try to "appeal" to us Western gamers. Why do they think things like costume DLC from a popular American game is what we want? What we WANT is for them to go back to making games the way they USED to make them, and not try to make them "flashy" and always moving because us ADD Americans apparently can't play a game now unless it has pretty colors.

Come on Square. You need to listen here. This isn't what we want! (as much as I LOVE Assassins Creed and Ezio (I'm playing Revelations as I type this actually...) I think this is just the wrong route to go.) Get back to your roots!!! I want a good ol fashioned RPG again. Big open world. Exploration. Level ups. Super bosses. All that good stuff. Not a battle system you can choose to fight for you and a hallway filtering me to the next area.

I love you Square. And I'll buy XIII-2 because I didn't HATE XIII. But you're losing people. And fast.

Editorial -- Nintendo's creeping doom: how the company came to misplace $926 million

@Punkrawk Bbob

I know what you're saying. But the proof is right there. It isn't doing well at all. It was a mistake. It happens. 3D really isn't in high demand. Sure in theaters people will enjoy a 3D movie but I don't see anyone exactly rushing out to spend thousands on a 3D set and hundreds more on the glasses needed to view them. Instead they'd rather spend 600 on what is not a relatively cheap market on huge 42" HD TV's.

It isn't that I don't agree with you. I mean I see why they would do it. And it's always a good idea to capitalize on something before the other competitors. But seeing how it turned out it can only be viewed as a mistake. Too many people still owned a regular DS and a huge library of games. Not many were willing to trade up to a system that they couldn't potentially use or was smaller than what they already had. And most that do don't even use the 3D because it is more of a distraction than anything.

I don't hate Nintendo. I had a Gamecube. I have a Wii. I have a DS. They just messed up big time with the release of the 3DS way too soon. Touch screen was something new and innovative we could all sink our teeth into. 3D just simply doesn't do much for many people at this point in time sadly.

@Korbie I'm with you there. Fable 3 had a ton of glitches (one of which has rendered one of my characters I made USELESS because I can't leave the area.) and it really was just a sad thing for me to see. I like how 3 brought back some of the stuff I loved in 1 but it seems like they don't playtest their games at all. I LOVED the way Fable 1 played. That's all I really want again. An updated Fable 1. Longer, more in-depth, armor, defense, all that. Not just clothing. Difficulty even heh.

But this isn't about Fable!! Hahah. This game does look pretty good. Not graphics-wise I'm saying. But as a Fantasy lover I'm pretty excited.

They released far too many samey handhelds. 3D still isn't something people care about. To release a handheld based upon 3D is just insanity this early in the game. People don't have 3D TVs yet. Those are barely marketable. I remember reading a survey that said a bunch of people didn't realize you could play the 3Ds without glasses. Then there are the people who can't play it because their eyes start to hurt.

There were just too many issues. It was too soon. The DS XXL had just come out and it is pretty damn awesome if you ask me. It was big. Nice to hold. Perfect for gaming on a handheld. But then they release this smaller one that people don't know things about and don't want yet and it was just too much too soon. It's a crazy thing to see them falling like this. I think they may pick themselves back up but it isn't always easy. Especially with the giant price cut they had to give on the 3Ds.

It isn't only that though. The Wii U will be coming out but for what? To finally play the games that we've all been playing since 2005? I know it sounds harsh and I may get downvoted for this but they can't keep doing this. They're going to lose business as you're seeing here. They need to make one console and one handheld and then focus on pumping out excellent titles for that console/handheld to keep players happy and money in their hands.

It's tough. But if they keep this trend and don't focus on the games that matter they may end up like Sega, imagine playing Mario on an Xbox or Playstation someday? You may just see it happen.

It looks a lot like Fable to me. Well. If they put as much work into Fable that they should have. It just gives me that kind of vibe. Maybe it's just the graphics but watching that made me think of Fable 1. And that isn't a bad thing. It looks like what Fable should have been. I love my Fable but they've been going downhill (in my opinion.) And this looks like a great fantasy epic. I just love my fantasy,
