This makes me not want to buy the game for several reasons:

Firstly, the resale value will be lower. When I tire of the game, of course I'm going to sell it. Why would I want my resale value diminished by $10 (or even more considering the points below).

Secondly, due to this, the number of online players will probably be fewer. Many people will buy this game second hand and decide not to pay for the online, or they'll buy it first hand and decide not to use the online code that came with game so that they can resell it with the game. This is going to result in significantly fewer people playing this online. Why would I then want to pay $10 to join what is sure to be a smaller online community compared to its competition?

Thirdly, I don't want to encourage this kind of system. Buy buying this game, I am saying that I find this "pay for online play" system acceptable. I don't. I think it's setting a bad precedent.

I think in the end, this is going to actually hurt Codemasters simply because of reduced sales. A game with a significant online component without an active online community is going to tank.
