Are these games even running in 1080p? My gaming TV is an old HD tube set that supports only 480P and 1080i. If a game supports 1080P I can see it in 1080i. If a game supports only 720P, I see it in 480P.
Saying that, I see all 3 of these games in 480P. The other HD collections (gow, etc) I can see in 1080i. Hmph.
I played a lot of of uncharted 2, and when I started up this game I will admit I was having trouble aiming. At first I thought I was just a bit rusty, but after a bit decided that something indeed felt off. I dubbed it the robocop syndrome, as when trying to line up a head shot I would put 5-10 rounds a few inches around someones head without actually hitting it.
It was frustrating at first, but it`s not a gamebreaker at all and after a little more practice and getting adjusted to it I`m back to pulling off regular headshots.
Now of course the problem will be if they adjust the aiming back to what it was in part 2,everyone that has adjusted to 3 or didn`t find any issue with the aiming will be upset that it`s been changed. Kinda reminds me of the killzone 2 aiming issue.
Also, while Nats movement animiations look better now, I agree that they seem to have come at the price of controlability.
I'm glad to see I made the right decision not to buy this game new, which is pretty sad in itself as I enjoyed the first one. But I'm done with buying games new that are going to lock out single player content with one time use codes.
What is more depressing is the joke I just made about the 5 steps of dlc evolution--seems pretty on the mark.
... 2. Create lengthy process to obtain code if one was missing ... 4. Watch as impatient consumers buy additional codes rather then finish lengthy process noted in step 2
(Between you and me, 4. is really - Watch as impatient consumers buy additional codes rather then finish lengthy process noted in step 2. Shhhh!!! It's a secret)
1. "Forget" to put codes in select number of game packages 2. Create lengthy process to obtain code if one was missing 3. Have PR wizards on standbye to deal with backlash. Note-backlash will deminish with frequent incidents as practice becomes accepted 4. ??? 5. Profit
Garbage. Put the damn game people are buying in it's entirety on the disk.
Stranglely, this annoucement excites me more than any other dlc annoucements for recent games made before the game comes out. It's wierd, as I know dlc annoucments were supposed to have the opposite effect--they were supposed to make you want to hold on to a game longer to prevent you selling it and becoming a used copy someone else will buy. But everytime I hear one before a game is out, I can't help but think that the content announced very well might have been removed from the game just to be sold back to us, even if it's not indeed the case. At least now I know we are getting 100% of the single player game.
As long as your not going to surprise us by announcing at the last minute you'll be locking single player content behind codes (batman/rage, yes i'm looking at you), I can't wait to buy this game as soon as it comes out. I'm even going to try to convince my buddy that I usually lend games to when I'm done with them to buy his own copy.
Codes for mulitplayer are one thing. The multiplayer aspect will fade out over time and people move on, but at least in the past the single player game remains intact for me to play now or years down the road. This new trend of single player content behind locked codes is the line in the sand for me and I will not support it. It's only a matter of time before the entire game is locked behind a code at this rate.
In the past I have always bought games new, but when I'm done with it I usually lend it to my friend to play. To me it justifies paying 60 bucks for a game. My friend buys an occasional game yes, but no where near the amount I do. Now that I will no longer be able to lend this out to someone else and have them enjoy the entire single player experience (those that say the catman content is extra are just fooling themselves--it's content that should be on the disc you bought and was removed for the sole reason of locking it behind a code), there's no way I'm buying this game full price.
Most of the games I buy new and lend are not lost sales as my friend would never buy them anyway. However, in taking value out of the product I buy (ability to sell/lend it as a whole), you are 100% losing my money. And occasionally, my friend has bought a copy of a game I had lent him that he really enjoyed. More money lost.
So by trying to get an extra 10 dollars from my friend, rocksteady/wb in turn lose 50 dollars of my money when I wait and buy this game used.
By constantly removing more of the core game to lock/sell back to use, these developers will eventually solve this used game dilemma. No one will be buying their games new anymore, hence no used copies to go around either.
If you were interested in this game before reading this review, you owe it to yourself to at least check out some other site's reviews before writing this one off.
