Even just watching this game I was unconvinced, even rendered sleepy, but when I tried it out, I was utterly hooked. The graphics look a bit lame if you're not participating in them, but that wasn't even slightly an issue for me when I was actually playing the game. The shooting hands become instantly intuitive, and I was completely enchanted.
As a female gamer who plays Femshep, I really don't feel at all connected to the dude on the box. One of the really charming things about Mass Effect is that you can customise the main character and really make it your own, so it feels really odd to have this random dude as the face of it all. I think they should do various Shepard looks, male and female, in the advertising material when they feel they need a Shep.
