Tactical Espionage Announcement: Kojima working on Metal Gear Solid 5

Nov 18th 2011 10:56AM (Joystiq)
Ok, I'm not hating on your post, I'm merely trying to point out some of the plot points that you apparently missed.

When going down the corridor of microwaves, snake still believed that he would become a human biological weapon soon, so he had decided to go out with a bang. I thought this was pretty obvious when he told Raiden that it was his fight tipi finish, not Raiden's.

Afterwards, he is able to fight Ocelot because he gives Snake a, booster shot of nanos and adrenaline, therefore healing him and giving Ocelot the last glorious fight with Snake that he, Ocelot, brainwashed himself to believe he so desperately wanted. Flimsy I know, but that's the beauty of the MGS universe, all this batshit crazy stuff is common place.

Kojima's writing is by no means stellar, and he does tend to go off the deep end often, but his true genius, is in how he uses batshit crazy, off the wall scenerios, in order to convey real world emotions about real world situations, like how some people feel about war, nuclear power and weapons, ect.

That said, I'm super excited to see where he takes the MGS universe, maybe Snake will be more in the role of colonel Campbell with a new threat and a new hero.

Microsoft reveals Xbox 360 TV partners, including Comcast, Verizon, HBO [Update 2: Comcast shows Xfinity on Xbox 360]

From what I gathered, most of the content which I would be doing this for, is relegated to having access to it already from a regular cable provider. In other words, if you already have a cable provider and subsequent package, you may access the same content you already get through your cable box on your 360. Not all of it, but the good stuff is that way.

When I first heard about this, my first thought was that I might finally may be able to get rid of Directv, but no. The real good stuff will still require you to have Directv or another similar cable subscription in order to enjoy it.

This is pretty useless right now, to me anyways, because instead of saving me money it will cost the extra 60 bucks that would cost me to reactivate my live gold membership. Which is not much, but with a baby in the way, I have other priorities to spend that money on.

Besides one of the few things I would be
interested in is HBOGO, and I already get that on my PC, PS3 thought the web browser, before you guys say anything it works really well and I'm sure they'll have a Netflix type of app for it soon enough, also on my phone and on my iPad, not to mention the six or so channels I get through Directv.

This is not what I thought it would be, but it is a small step toward where we the consumers want to go. To the guy that wants to see Game of Thrones, make the effort, the show is totally worth it, unlike this new feature.

Rumor: Walmart dropping Xbox 360 4GB Kinect bundle to $249 on Aug. 28 [update]

Aug 25th 2011 11:35AM (Joystiq)
There is nothing about this bundle that draws me in. first I already have a 360, second, as cool as the kinect is, there is absolutely nothing worth it software wise for me. And the way that they're implementing yet on the hardcore games, seems like a complete none factor to me.

I will go ahead and purchase a kinect the moment it becomes a viable alternate control scheme, and I mean fully. Like you can either play the game using kinect only or a controller but not this gimmick of using only one aspect of a 150 dollar peripheral that could be done with a five buck mic.

Until then, your not getting anymore of my money Microsoft.

Capcom Devil May Cry art contest hints at unannounced DMC game

Jul 14th 2011 2:14PM (Joystiq)
I know the second one was horrible, but four wasn't nearly as bad. I like the idea of a re-imaging of the series, and the thought of having new blood coming in and lending a fresh take and a once proud franchise.

However, NT took that too far. I understand that this is the EMO era but they went full blown twilight with his look. Not everyone enjoys that, as a matter of fact, I would say that the target audience for a game like DMC, hates that look.

Even if you already were a fan of the games, our you are one of the new people that they are trying to get on board with three series, this is just not the way to go about it.

Especially after you first showed the damn thing people were up in arms about the look of Dante, and they basically said "f%ck you guys this is what we want to do, we don't care about what you guys want".

Look at what happened with Cole and infamous 2, the fans hated the new look, voiced their opinion, and guess what? Sucker punch listened, and they are better off for it.

I have never been a big fan of places like gamestop, I usually stay away from those type of places unless they are having their buy 2 get one free sale. Even then though I tend to buy new games only, and if the sale only applies to used games, then I don't do it or try and find olds games I may have missed.

My main problem with gamestop, is the way they tend to short change you when you sale a game to them. I bought Crysis 2 at launch, went home played it for a couple of weeks, never really got into it the way I thought I would, I think I only played it for like six or seven hours total, so I thought I'd do something I rarely do and sale the gane.

I went to gamestop and they were offering me 25 bucks, I thought that was a bad deal, so I went to a local place that was like two blocks away from that gamestop, anda they gave me 35 bucks.

That pretty much summarizes almost every experience I've had at gamestop, I always seem tio find a better deal elsewhere, except for that buy 2 get one event they have every once in a while.

Kinect hack turns your 360 into a 3D walk-in closet

Jul 10th 2011 11:33AM (Joystiq)
Kinect is not yet worth its $150 price tag IMO. I have yet to see anything fun or useful from Kinect or the hacks. I guess my 360 will stay in hibernation until Gears 3 comes out, oh well back to the uncharted 3 beta I go.

Ok, I thought you were actually serious for a moment. You are right though, we need to call these companies out on their bullshit advertising and promises. They all do it, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, and we need tio show them that shit won't fly anymore.
