This really doesn't make much sense. Surely it wasn't the ARM chip that was the issue but some software running on the chip?
A dodgy line of code calculating the date wrong makes sense, followed by Sony then not patching the PS3 code after the Zune issues... but a chip doing it wrong!? I'm struggling to believe it.
I'm from the UK and returned my xbox last month and was never given this option.
The only time it mentioned the "pre-paid shipping box" was in an email _after_ the service request was made by which point I had already been sent a shipping label and told to provide my own box.
Also, nowhere in the email does it say how to use the pre-paid box service, it just mentions the service. I'm happy to provide this email if anyone wants to see it
Intel are about 10 years behind when it comes to power consumption. Just imagine how far Apple would have to underclock an AtomCPU to get the same life from an identical battery as the iPhone has now.
Yeah we have been having the stall problems as well.
Basically it's like a multiplayer lagg without the multiplayer.
The game keeps going but for about half a second the screen doesnt update. Then suddenly it comes back to life and you can carry on for a little while. It usually happens a couple of times a minute.
There is a couple of work-arounds though. Clearing the 360's cache will get rid of the patch and fix it. The solution with the least amount of effort is this: when the game is loading (when you start the game from dashboard, not when loading a save) hold both bumper buttons. This apparently clears the cache for BioShock. Tested it out and it does work, for a while, eventually the issue comes back.
The apocalyPS3 ends in global resurrection, ARM chip at fault

Xbox 360 repairs should always have the option of a 'coffin'

I still think ARM is by far the best choice Apple can make for the iPhone.

Oct 22nd 2008 5:52AM (Engadget)Obviously it's an ARM but who's ARM was it?
I remember there being a debate about whether it was the XScale from Marvell (which is the Intel cpu jaycalgary is talking about) or a Samsung one.

BioShock title update kind of uninspiring
