Except without the Protheans, there'd be no chance of defeating the Reapers.
Without the Protheans, there would be no Collectors.
Without the Protheans, there would be far less mystery and wonder in the ME universe.
Am I the only one that, upon first venturing to Ilos, had such amazement and wonder while seeing the decaying remnants of a long lost civilization? Or that wondered, upon seeing those creepy statues, what the Protheans looked like? Or were they even a collective of races hailing under one banner (such as the Covenant from Halo)?
You (and Bioware) can paint this any way they want. Excluding this from the full game is a disservice to those of us who have been following this more since November 20, 2007. I did preorder the CE, but I honestly don't think this is fair of them. If they wanted to use throwaway characters like Kasumi and Zaaed for this, then fine. But you all that are arguing in favor of this are overlooking one major point...they chose the use of a Prothean as day one DLC because they know enough people feel the way that I do to plop the extra $10 down, effectively turning the regular edition in a $70 game.
To those that have asked, no those are not the only squadmates. Basically, you will have nearly the equivalent of your ME1 squad (or alternates for anyone who died), plus James Vega, a Prothean character (this is with the CE and day one DLC), and currently secret character.
Also, for the voice commands, if only one person in your party has a given ability, you do not need to say their name. You only need to say the name of the ability. I tried this in the demo and it does work.
I played through the WotL version when I had a PSP many moons ago, but like with Final Fantasy VII, part of the charm of the original to me was the horrible translation. That, and why did they feel the need to change most of the character names? Argath instead of Algus? Seriously, was there a good reason for that? Or were they just trying to constantly slap you in the face with a reminder that you're playing an updated version?
I actually just spent around $20 to buy a like new black label version of the PSX game from Amazon. I'd rather play the original anyway.
Square has gone way downhill since merging with Enix, IMHO.
I checked on my games, and sure enough, both LC and CJ show up on the system as 2.1GB.
On that note, does anyone remember when the file size limit was 50MB? I remember them making a big deal about Chair's Undertow, because they managed to cram in FMV and still have the game clock in at a lean 49MB.
What the hell do you care? For one, as amazing an experience as it is, it's not a graphically intensive game, so it could potentially work on console (though they'd probably have to downgrade the shaders and shadows). But beyond that, are you that much of a selfish prick that you want to be able to say "NA NA NA NA boo boo" to others? Not everyone can afford even a PC that will run Amnesia, much less other games.
Just about a week ago, I dropped around $400 to upgrade my rapidly aging 9500GT to a GeForce GTX580ti and a new power supply. And I was only able to afford that because I had a kid last year and it significantly boosted my tax return.
While I think an experience like Amnesia is best suited for a computer monitor that you'd sit closer to and headphones, why is it okay for you to say console players have to miss it because they prefer Xbox or PS3 over PC, or better yet, because they can't afford a decent PC? I know I am basically just baiting a troll here, but people like you piss me off. Get a life. I'm sure your overpriced Alienware is missing you right now.
I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Comic Jumper and a couple of other games (maybe Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light or whatever it is called) being 2.1 gigs. I'm pretty sure CJ is at least.
A truly moving speech. Nearly brought a tear to my eye.
It seems that upvoting you is almost trivial at the point, but +1 sir.
And threads like these show me that, as much as we gamers may joke, bicker, berate, condescend, or flame, we can all come together and truly appreciate the loss of an undeniable talent to our industry.
Scary as hell. Play in the dark with a good pair of headphones. It makes The Exorcist, F.E.A.R., Paranormal Activity, and pretty much everything else ever seem tame by comparison.
