Rogue....eh I mean.... Shadow was okay at best and Sage is just appauling, SWTOR has made so many design decisions that I really hate and the more I see of the game the less I feel like playing it.
Don't really care when the game is released. If it is released this year, cool, if not, still cool.
I was so hyped for this game when it was announced, but the more I see the less excited I am. I liked WoW a lot, played it for a few years, but don't feel like playing it again. SWTOR looks like it will be WoW with some story in the SW universe. Yay! Not...
I was expecting something new, different and groundbreaking Bioware has the capability and EA the money, but from what I've seen they've chosen the safer direction and THAT is the reason Blizzard will again rule the MMO world once their new MMO releases. I think they realize that yes, WoW was a great game (is albeit getting old) but something new is needed to get that edge over others and making WoW all over again with some story isn't going to be enough.
SWTOR is probably going to do great, it plays like WoW, has the same features and people won't even care about the amazingly shitty animations they use for abilities because... it is SW. With story fit into the mix you've got a recipe for success, at least to begin with. It won't be a WoW killer because nothing can be a WoW killer unless you consider all other MMOs dead at launch, but it will do well.
Personally I will try it, I will most likely have fun playing it with my friends for a while, going through the story, but I am also pretty confident that it won't last very long for me because after I've completed my storyline, the rest will be... been there done that and I don't want to do it again.
I only watch the trailers or w/e if my friend shows me one of SW:TOR. The reason is that the more I see the less I want to play it. I am sure the story will be great, but there is so much stuff that just pisses me off and makes me want to not even try the game, so I usually I just try to not look.
Haven't played the game yet, but when talking about the graphics I can't say much else than that is just a matter of taste. Me and my friends all love the graphics simply because it fits the genre and type of game perfectly.
My g/f doesn't play any games more or less, but she got intrigued when she saw AoEO just because of the graphics, so while some might not like it, a lot of people do. In the end, shiny colorful cute things draws a lot of casual players from facebook or wherever, and they are prepared to shell out the cash to make their little city even cuter so honestly I think they made a good choise.
That being said, if this graphics had been used for say SC2 I would have raged, but again it has more to do with the type of game it is imo.
As someone who hasn't played since release this is starting to look better. I would agree with Alzeer that it will take another couple of updates like this (big and meaningful) to make me give it a second chance, but it is good to see the game is moving in the right direction.
Personally I have a feeling it will take a while before I go back considering how many other MMO- that are on their way (TERA, SWTOR, Planetside), but still good to see.
For me CoP was the best expansion by far, and most of my friends agrees with me. Honestly I know very few who actually cared about ToAU at all in any sense except for the fact that it gave us faster exp, which is not enough to give it the top spot... or even put it anywhere near it.
Me and three friends of mine were having a LAN party at my house. I had just gotten back to the game, one friend was completely new and the two others were playing more regurlarly.
That day one of my friends was doing his final quests to become a Jedi padawan while me and my other two friends were doing bounties. I was a "sniper" bounty hunter, one of my friends was also sniper bounty hunter and the last one was a pistoleer bounty hunter.
This time we had thrown down our droids and found our Jedi target who was called "mom" on Dantooine. So we went there, but after searching for a while we realized we had just missed her, so we threw down our droids again and she was now on Endor. The same thing happened there and finally she went to Dathomir (I think that was the planet anyway, or it might have been reversed order, but w/e).
When we arrive on Dathomir we see that she is heading far out from the base and our soon to be Jedi friend tells us that she seems to be heading toward the "jedi" quest village or something like that. We decided that to make sure we didn't miss her this time we would set up and ambush instead of chase after her.
So at the entrance to the little base where you could fly away to other planets we set up. Our pistoleer hid behind the wall where the entrance was, I hid at the edge of the wall aiming towards the entrance and our last sniper hid in a bush from where the Jedi would be coming.
It took a while and we got so excited when we saw she was on her way. The plan was to have our "bush-sniper" shoot her bike so it broke while I did the damage to her and our pisoleer cut off her escape route. The plan was good and the execution was flawless haha, it was so much fun. We shouted and laughed and got super scared when she used her force powers on our pistoleer for some massive damage, but in the end we prevailed and we were so dissapointed we hadn't recorded it all.
I have many great memories of the game, but that is the one that sticks out the most.
