Rumor: Infinity Ward employees not leaving due to unpaid royalties, morale 'extremely low'

Mar 13th 2010 12:01PM (Joystiq)
this is why the developers need a union. I despise unions usually, but look at hollywood, the writers and actors have unions to protect themselves from the big movie studios ripping them off. The same needs to be done by developers so this sort of crap doesn't happen in the future.

Rumor: Best Buy offering new PS3 buyers a free game to discourage Slim trade-ins

this sounds like a royal pain in the ass for retailers.

Valve details Left 4 Dead 2: melee combat, AI Director 2.0

What a great way to charge $60 for what should be more DLC for $10-20. Unforunately, I'll buy it like the sucker I am.

Official E3 2009 T-shirt revealed, reminder of blood drive

Horrid design. Someone's trying to hard to achieve the trendy Ed Hardy/Affliction look of creating horrible t-shirts with WAY to much crap on them. Wonder if it will cost $70 like an affliction shirt does.

A look at Time Warner's broadband pricing structure

Apr 12th 2009 8:32PM (Joystiq)
My dad lives in the Greensboro area, and he got a warning letter that states that the "average internet user" won't see any increase in costs. I'm not sure what they determined was an "average internet user" but this pricing structure is outrageous. It's totally going to backfire on Time Warner in these test markets. The part that I find ridiculous is that they are testing it in North Carolina, one of the states that has been hit the hardest by the economy. Unemployment is WAY WAY up down there. Nice Time Warner. Stealing money from the poor.

If the game is SOOOOO bloody, then why isn't there a single drop of blood in ANY of the screenshots?

Rockstar goes west with Red Dead Redemption

I'll second that. Outlaws was a badass game. I loved it.

I'll also second the part about LucasArts stopping the suckage.

I wish they'd make a sequel to Full Throttle as well.

Dan Hsu working on new project with ex-EGM/1UP staff

I, like many other people really aren't looking forward to this because of what was once EGM. Many people are looking forward to it because of what was once th1upshow and the 1upyours! podcast. Both of which were something I looked forward to EVERY week. They had incredible production values, and were very entertaining to watch/listen to. I can remember sitting down with my iPod and just listening to 1upyours! podcasts that were literally 2 hours long. Not to mention, they would also do special "humourous" episodes from time to time such as the Broken Pixels stuff (basically Mystery Science Theater w/ bad Video Games).

I'm looking forward to it, and would without a doubt pay the minimal subscription fee for their weekly shows if they can guarantee a bit higher quality stuff (sound/video quality, the content is great already).

Honestly, I'm amazed that they've been able to throw all this together in a matter of only two weeks.

GameStop states its case for used games and trade-ins to developers

Jan 22nd 2009 9:48AM (Joystiq)
Not every new game that gamestop sells has been opened. You will only encounter an "opened" new game if you are getting one of the last copies of a game that Gamestop has in stock.

The problem could easily be solved if gamestop would just pony up the cash to have "dummy" cases made up to display on the floor. Instead their idea is to just open one or two copies of every game and store the disc behind the counter. Based on what I know about gamestop, their stubborness to listen to new, much better ideas about how to run the company will not be listened to. I've worked for gamestop for nearly 4 years as a side job and for a good while as a manager and I've come up with better solutions to alot of the ways they do things. I've sent emails and told DM's and the like. They basically pretend to listen to you and thats it.

Every year they give employees a chance to "speak their mind" but all that means is they get to take a ridiculous survey that basically asks if you like your job, and they give you know chance to actually create your own response to any of the questions or to offer suggestions. I could've saved gamestop and its employees alot of time and money with some of the ideas I've had, but oh well.
