'Dstroyd' and 'Rigonauts: Broadside' win Activision indie competition

The thing about this competition when I originally read it looked like they were farming for ideas.

Basically - what would stop them from making the worst idea win, and then take the best idea and develop it themselves. And unlike other competitions, the terms in this one gave Activision full power over your submission.

GameStop completes Impulse integration, ex-Microsoft exec Shane Kim joins board

Steam controls 70% of the market. It will be even higher in years. They can do what they want in the future. At one time EA, Activision, ect. were very nice companies with tons of innovation too... I'm just saying, I think as gamers we owe it to ourselves to support other companies to diversify things. That way no one has full control and will be forced to help us to stay alive.

Interesting, but there may be one major flaw. It can only support certain games. After all, how would a game like Unreal Tournament work on it where you can pick any level from the start?

The only solution is for game developers to limit their games to allowing the player to only play one level when they start a game. And make the players wait until the download is done to play the rest.
