LA Noire is a pick up for me. I already have it for the PS3, but this comes with the DLC, right? Also, I prefer to play more on my PC anyway. Maybe I'll finally play it if it's on my PC....
Crysis 2 is tempting, but I'll probably pass. I'm not really into FPSs. I've been tempted to get DAO Ultimate a few times. I already own it, Awakening, and -some- of the DLC. However, literally, it's cheaper to buy Ultimate on sale than to buy the remaining DLC. Bioware is INSANE when it comes to DLC pricing. The PC DLC for ME2, DAO, and DA2 hasn't been on sale ONCE. NOT A SINGLE TIME! I'll skip it now, but I'll probably bite when DA:O:UE is 5 bucks or so.
@omicron1 This is definitely doable. If MC had the data in some manipulable format, or if you just took the time to re-encode the MC dataset, you could calculate different variants of the Metacritic score.
Honestly, DA2 wasn't bad per se.. it was just very rushed. Very rushed.
If they had been given, say, another year of development, I think it could've been a decent game. On top of that, if there would've been more focus in emphasizing tactics in battle and less on "COOL," then I think we're getting to what people actually WANTED from DA2.
The recycled environments, the lack of true companion equipment, the single town, the linear story path, the nonsense "choices," and the "wave" battles all really really hurt this game. I'm still think it's like a 7-7.5, but I seriously enjoyed DAO. Disappointing.
@HighFiveJesus "New Vegas is one of the best games I've ever played in my life. But you wouldn't appreciate it half as much without playing 1 and 2. " - Interesting, as the team behind New Vegas overlapped greatly with the team that made Fallout 2. See: Chris Avellone, Feargus Urquhart. Hell, the original Fallout 3 was.. get this.. based in the U.S. southwest, included a fight for the Hoover Dam, was based on a war between the New California Republic and the Brotherhood of Steel, and included a strange entity called "Caesar's Legion." Any of that sound familiar?
Nowadays, even Tim Cain (creator of Fallout 1) works with Obsidian. It's sad that they're in such dire straits....
@TheDarkWayne It's probably better to think of it as the first RPG with a "modern" morality system. Not only was there Ultima 4, but older D&D-based RPGs often had alignment as well. The way alignment played out back then, however, is not really at all like how you'd expect based on Fallout+. Ultima 4 is a little closer, but there wasn't really an 'option' with Ultima 4. It's not like you could beat that game as a bad guy.
@shankythestabber What's the best source of polish? Money. If Obsidian was given a decent budget and some time, they could make a fantastic game. Shit, with a little over a year, they made Fallout New Vegas. That game is ace, and it sold like 6 million copies.
The idea that this studio is anywhere close to death is utterly tragic. I really hope they throw a Kickstarter up and announce a spiritual successor to an old Black Isle Game.
@Hunter141072 Honestly, I don't think this will affect publishers at all. This is just going to create more diversity on the gaming ecosystem. More example, while there has been an -explosion- in the awareness, availability, and variability of music due to the internet, there are still insane numbers of people who buy 'that catchy song on the radio.'
This is a turn away from monopoly for the big guys, but most of their market will never know any better.. or even really care.
@Bewoulf There are rumors that Apple is planning something similar in the near future. Also, there is already a project in motion that would make Android phones into Ubuntu desktops. Basically, your Android would be an Android, but, if you docked it with a monitor/keyboard/mouse, it would switch to Ubuntu desktop mode. The best part: it would use the same files, directory structure, etc., so it will be just as seamless as Windows 8.
Basically, everything is moving in this direction. In the near future, there will be no real difference between phones, tablets, or desktops. There will just be different environments that all access the same fundamental technology.
Amazon 'Spring Sale' on PC has LA Noire for $5, Crysis 2 for $7.50

Fallout: The first modern role-playing game
Mar 17th 2012 12:19AM (Joystiq)By "original" Fallout 3, I meant the Interplay-produced, turn-based, isometric game developed before Black Isle died and Obsidian was born.
