Gamestop is in the business to make money, just like any other company, including steam. People seem to always want to give them a bad name because they feel they don't get enough for there trade insurance or whatever the reason but people seem to forget that without that option you'd be playing $60 for a game and hoping you can sell it to your friend when you're done. They've seen an area of the market they can capitalize on so there going for it. Maybe they'll fail like best buy has done with taking trades, or maybe they'll succeed like Amazon is.

not everyone reads the blog and in there initial announcement of the program, it stated through july 3rd. if they wanted to change that to have july 2nd be the last day it could be redeemed, they should have done a better job notifying there customers

its irrelevant why people waited till the last day. If something is supposed to be available through a certain date, it should be available through that day. that would be like getting pulled over the day your drivers license expires and getting a ticket because you should have renewed it when then.
