Don't call it a remake: Final Fantasy X is a 'remaster,' to be clear
Feb 6th 2012 1:30PM (Joystiq)Also, I know that it would be a lot of work and money to redo VII, but it would cost much less than the development of a brand new game, and they'd probably see significant returns.

Aug 1st 2011 11:18AM (Joystiq)Gamers react like this because most of them are stuck in a paradox. They crave the same old stuff, but need something new to stimulate them. Thus, they feel new ideas in games are scary or not worth their time, as they won't be enjoyable.
Blizzard Dota still on the way, has undergone 'some massive overhauls'
Jul 29th 2011 11:31AM (Joystiq)I agree that it's frustrating when game companies seemingly lead us on and tease us with tid bits of the delicious things they're cooking up. However, this isn't the case with just games. Movies have always been marketed around building hype. Lots of entertainment and media does this. It's a paradox of sorts: people today want more and more quicker and quicker and get frustrated when they don't. In the 90's everyone was stoked when a new game came out, regardless of how long it had been teased for. We're just inundated with so many games now. I'm fine with waiting for quality games.

Jul 11th 2011 11:57AM (Joystiq)Have you been playing games for a long time? Or playing older games? I totally agree with you -- searching for items and such is just terrible for narrative, unless devs did a really good job of incorporating it into the game (I can't really think of any examples). However, it seems to me that older games, i.e., SNES and some N64 era games, had a lot more of that hidden item mentality. I know I've probably doubled the length of some games searching for items. My point is, new games seem to do a much better job of staying story-centric and story-driven. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to individual players. Some of us like to look for items, but I think that's a hallmark of older gamers.
